Family of dead cockle picker want compensation

Katana,
Whatever your gripes with UB, your comments, which have simply decended into personal abuse, are not appropriate to the thread, which as far as I can see is one concerning the ludicrous levels our culture of litigation has reached.
If you have nothing sensible to post, please refrain from doing so.
Josh

She did no harm to anyone, didn't claim benefits (wasn't entitled to anyway)
These people are outside the system, they don't contribute to the system and if they do things that are wrong they are damn difficult to find because they are generally already in hiding or on the move all the time anyway.
They couldn't find anyone to do the the job

Ok folks, just to clarify. I just heard the BBC radio news item again and I can confirm that the family of one of the drowned men in China are seeking compensation from the British Government.
It also mentioned that the poor guy did indeed spend 20K to be smuggled here. Surely these people would be better off staying put?

"Defending"..????
He hasn't said anything which needs "defending".
As already mentioned, you're the one trying to impose your personal agenda here. Again.

Katana - may I respectfully suggest that you do not contribute further to this post if you cannot be constructive and realise that there is no underlying xenophobic tone to it at all.
If you continue to bring racism into it and persist with insulting people, I will delete your replies.

Katana sees everything though 'race goggles'. The easiest thing is to just ignore him. It can be difficult, but it's the best option in my experience.

20K to get here.
I would imagine this includes getting you here, sorting you out some work and accomodation and maybe a flite home once youve realised that the grass isnt greener.
I wonder if they pay up front or have to work it off with installments.
All very sad.

I'm just sick of the little snipes and racial inuendos made by that Nick Griffin wanabe
You may not agree with his opinion, and again that is your right, but it would seem to me the sniping is coming from your direction in trying to get people to have a go at him for his views. People on here are quite rightly IMO, supporting his right to air his views, whether they hold the same views or not.

Katana, previous posts do not come into the equation with regards to this thread. If you persist in continuing to disrupt it with your unfounded accusations - it will be locked!
This is final warning

Kat - maybe UB has been xenophobic in his posts in the past (I don't know, haven't read the vast majority of them) but can you at least concede that in this instance, the focus was more on the fact that an illegal immigrant's family is trying to claim compensation from the UK Gov't. Nothing to do with colour, race, creed, dog's name, but with the fact that they are / were here illegally.
Let people make up their own minds with regards to UB. If he really is that xenophobic, it will be obvious.

Got to say that your comment that Fujian is a "coastal province" is a bit choice with its accuracy.
That particular province does indeed have a coastline of about 400 miles, however, it is also over 200 miles deep in places. In actual fact, there are places there that are further from the sea than anywhere in the UK, probably most of it. There are 10s of thousands of people in this country that have never seen the sea and they probably live closer with more coastline available. In addition, the state of china is not reknowned for its wealth, so the chances of the majority of the population having cars & driving to the sea-side is rather negligible, or that they take trains or other means of transport for a day by the sea.
Sorry m8, gotta have been one of the most ill-informed comments I've seen in a long time!
