I'm 44 yrs of age and have a 94 RA, 320 bhp, short gears but the car is in original mint condition. No wastepaper bin sticking out the rear, nor furry dice hanging from the rear view mirror. Just plane old fun, If that makes me a boy racer then rock on.
Classic's rock,
for every boy racer in a scooby there is at least a thousand others in a ponced up looking Nova.

If you feel you have to attach blue neons everywhere, outlandish bodykits, great big amps, stick flames on the side of the body, make as much noise as possible, try outdragging everyone off the lights, try to impress the Public by sliding it all over the place virtually out of control, etc etc. Then you could be regarded as a "Boy Racer".
If you just enjoy a very good car's performance, maybe enhanced by a bit of judicious tuning, without upsetting everyone else on the road then you should get away with it-regardless of your age.

ooo dear...
Right just read up on this... um... yeah... INNIT
i mean.. well i use to have a citroen saxo vtr (chav charriot) which i did chav up i admit... i did chrome mirrors chrome grill tints and lexarse lights along with the usuall boom boom boxes etc... BUT depsite me past i wanted to get a scoob... i opted for a sport as im only 18, its in pure white with nice tinted windows, straight thru exhaust system and i use it to just look good, the car has made me grow up! not once have i thought of turning it into a shop window! Ie Lexus lights! i will make it look as i think will look tastefull for a whjite scoob... for example white colour coding, white wheels and red flaps... that chav? i think not! it made me grow up but i do feel that the classic is getting a bad image! i got called a chav simply because i brought a white car! and yes i wear alot of white clothes lol. but that doesnt mean im 'one of them' i am here to stay and i am here to enjoy being a responsible ssubaru owner!

God this just goes on and on,
To round it up most people have posted that " they don't believe the scoob is a boy racer car"
And how can it be, a young boy/girl might be able to afford to buy it but not many can afford to run it with ins/ fuel etc.
I don't understand those who go on and on about boy racers, get a life for god sake. What did you do, reach 17yrs old then jump straight to 50yrs old. Did you not own a car between the age on 17 to 25 ? And if so what car was it?
Maybe its a jealously thing as when you were 19 all you could afford was a fiesta 1.1 and nowadays a 19yr old can afford a scoob.
One thing I was told when I became a mother " Don't forget you were you once"
It all comes down to safety in my opinion as long as the car is driven safely I can't see a problem with who owns it, what they wear and how the car is modified.
And thats my rant over with.

Blimey, who was bored and dug this one up
Got bored with the boy racer image of the R32 and now got a gentleman's Impreza - Forester 2.5 XT with PPP - 261bhp and 280ft/lb. It likes to eat Porsche Boxsters with the spaniel puppy looking at them out the back window LOL
What do you drive now Dave T-S

I do agree that the gold wheels big spoiler may look a bit chav but i have bought my imprezas for the rally success subaru have had over the years, people do call me a chav but i admire the engine, 4 wheel drive system etc and never stop arsing about with the engine, unlike the chavs who buy these coz thery have turbos so they an put a dump valve on and **** around in town centre car parks and yet know nowt about macrae, burns, solberg etc!
rant over, not so sure if i made myself clear coz im tired! lol

every car has a youth following and chave seem to be part of britain now. There are loads of rich young kids so i really would not worry about it. If you enjoy your own car then who cares what everyone else thinks!!
Only up to the point where they start getting keyed every 5 mins. there has to be a line drawn at some point
