Thanks Scott, maybe David can correct it then, it does sound like we are talking about the same problem so there may just be a fix.

Maybe you or David could send a copy of the map to you know who so he can correct the one in the auto wagon now if he re-surfaces?

If it's a B4 twin turbo then no wonder it's not working properly!

I am sure it can be made to work, but the one size fits all chip is not designed for twin turbos. In fact i didn' even know the ECU would have a socket to take the chip!

Paul - I'm sure Spen has Selmon working with the twin turbo ECU. He had to fiddle the parameter files though.

There's no reason why it can't be mapped - even if the code & data is totally different

BTW, I have nearly got 97/98 extensions to Selmon working properly but I can't make it work with XP at all - the serial comms keeps stalling.

Paul, take the weight off your feet and sit down

It's an auto Impreza wagon, 1 turbo.

The B4 is the code stamped on the ecu case.

Was it white, no sugar?

David- You have mail.

dnb,

okay that's cool!

Cal,

Sounds like you just need the appropriate map. And still it may not be ideal as there have been so few cars to get feedback on.

Just as a note of interest I'm running a ScoobyECU in my 94 WRX auto wagon quite happily.

Sorry to jump in.

Who's playing with Twin Turbos?

Interested, because there's a lack of TT tuning in the UK, unless your running a B4.

Cheers

Exesspeed try page 2 & look at Scott T reply, there's some info on ecu numbers & car model types.

Im having this looked at next week its thought to be unrelated to the chip change but more likely that this has just acentuated a problem the car is currently having i.e. (MAF probably).

Anyway will post up what the problem was after its been fixed.

Time to invest in a knocklink me thinks, as I had no clue anything was wrong at all and this would have ultimately ended in my engine going bang.

Cheers

Calgonis this is pretty low considering you are running 1.2 bar. I am running 0.8 bar on my MY95 WRX RA and get 282bhp / 267 torque. This is with a full decat, I would expect if yours was decatted it would be up near the 300bhp mark.

The boost is a bit up and down at the moment possibly related to the current problem. Peak boost anywhere from 0.8-1.1 bar.
I had the car tested on the road tonight and its confirmed that its detting on the road as well as the rolling road.
There is little point in me speculating what the problem might be at the moment until I get it confirmed (hopefully this Friday).
The following will be tested on Friday (touch wood) though.

MAF - test and clean.
Timing checked and possible retarding.
Fuel pressure check.
ECU Map dump and suitability check.
Cylinder pressure check to try and find any internal problems. (Hope we dont get this far)

Fingers Crossed

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news... but a Z5 ECU belongs in a WRX RA, not an STi RA.

An STi RA will have either a SB or a 7K depending on whether it is a Version 1 or Version 2.

i have always thought it wasent but the several garages i have taken the car to including scoobysport said the car is a sti ra. Most of the car has sti bits on it like sti suspension sti diffs (transmission codes match sti ra) sti strut brace sti brake lines ect its one confusing car had it over 3 years and still i don't know its true identity the ecu cover has been removed and retuned before i owned the car

Scott, have you got any more of those chips you've been flogging on ebay

I would happily pay what seems to be the ebay going rate, though I wouldn't have a clue as to where to get an ECU adaptor to fit the chip onto the board

Sorry mate that was my last one that sold last week.
They were just a couple I had hanging about, and I wanted to flog em to pay for my TEK remap at PE this friday.

Get in touch with Scoobyclinic as they seem pretyy well set up for these at the moment.

Do Scoobyclinic fit mapped chips to your ECU by post? Derbyshire is a bit far for my liking
