Hot Marques Track Day @ K'hill - Sunday 29th Feb

Thought as much, Judge.( Just thought Civic Type R may have driven Scoobs!)
It's just never having been on track before, so would prefer if someone who knows the track could give me a few pointers.
Car's got all the right bits.(I think.) Just me that needs to Know more!

SG...........I've test drove 2 classic scoobs before I went the sensible route with the Civic ( I do 350 miles plus a week). I then changed my mind about Scoobs adopting the "life's too short" mindset. So test drove a bugeye and liked it but it was too refined, quiet and didn't really do it for me. The torque and acceleration was v.nice but I love revving the ***** of the Honda. Vtec @ 5.5 k then redline @ 8.5k feels and sounds immense. A real sense of banzai speed with a ****hot soundtrack to boot. Maybe not as sweet as a decatted classic at full chat though
I have since "hung around" in here for general Scooby developments, banter and advance warning of track days & rally sport. In retrospect, I wish i could change my forum name to something more personal but what the hey.
Anyway back to topic ..........I'm happy to pax lap with you on your first drive and tell you what lines I think you should be adopting etc etc.......The one thing to note is that you're there for your own enjoyment so drive at a pace you feel comfortable with . I did this for about 3 laps before unleashing the breadvan - you soon learn what you can & can't do.........It's the other folk on the track you need to watch out for. Especially the chumps in the tw Mini's - wreckless on the corners, undertaking etc and pure pish on the straights !
One thing's guaranteed - You'll be back for more !
Book up now ! or you'll be spectating and wished you'd got your erse in gear
Cal
p.s re :helmets - don't you just love The Stigs helmet - Simpson racing in black looks SO cool

SG..............see link to nice in car footage with 3 CTR's drivers & a Mitsy Evo FQ300 bashing round K'Hill relentlessly............
http://www.pipingengineering.com/ click on the Civic @ the bottom of the page & right click, save as -------> alternatively stream one of the small files = sorted
Click on image of CTR for footage............chap in the 2nd or 3rd Civic is insane -check the way he drives by streaming the above or downloading.
This would be handy for learning track characteristics

Cheers CTR.
Don't think your Civic will be Streaming ('Cept maybe the on the nursery slopes LoL!).I'm Prepared to be embarassed. LOL!
Was going to buy a CTR when they came out (Nice litle nipper) but tiresome (I'm old!)
Settled for 5 Type R Ltd(Doh 8k redline!) and have modded in the past year .
Needs track workout to see if it's any good (May look for part-x)if not!
Steve.
Btw. I Have a Simpson helmet ( The very first Star Wars )

Last briefing I went to some Elise driving dude was complaining that people never moved out of their way ...... 'twas wet that day and the Elises + lack of ABS led to some nervous moments on the straight leading into the hairpin.......it was noted that one of them when diggin in the gravel with it's chin spoiler whilst the another when "Torville & Deaning" on the green stuff . V.nice cars but that particular owner was outta line ( in more ways than one )
SG - if you have a Playstation it's worth buyiong Toca Race Driver ( Platinum hence £15) to get a feel for the bends etc. It's not exactly real life but the topography og the track is well recreated .....Again you can follow me round on the warm up laps if you like........the best bit comes at the blind chicane
Only a week and a bit before we get out to play .....I'm struggling to cope with the restrictions on the Queens Highway these days so track days are like ***** Wonka's golden wrappers for me & my rev happy chariot

LoL! CTR.
Used to play TOCA on the Playstation.
Could never get the hang of the hairpin. Used to just drive across the dirt 10yards before corner(Good for overtaking LOL).
For sure. I'll be doing a lot of following.(And haven't got ABS).

Booked it this afternoon.
Still 6 places left at that point, if there's anyone interested (Dougster?)
Steve, happy to take you (or anyone else) around in my STi to show you some lines, braking points, etc.
Hope it's dry, might even bring some slicks.

If I've got time I'll pop up for a looksee, not got the dangles to put the 03Sti on the track, but I'm sorely tempted ages since I've done a track day.
The only thing being if I was to go for it I'll have to take me mudflaps off as they scrape on hard cornering on the road let alone the track.
John.

Any of you chaps know where to get cheap trackday insurance ? I feel I've been lucky in the past and never had an "off"..........so I thought it'd be wise to look into this
This mob :-
http://www.eggerlawson.co.uk/products.htm
Will insure me for £6000 worth of cover for £90 a day - does that seem sensible ?
Thanks
Cal
