Is that why you drive a BMW Mini? So you can be 'differnet' like all the other unfashionable fashionistas?
You are a fool.

Actually the AE86 is a far cooler car than the Mini, BMW's little baby is the new Audi TT. It's the owner that's a c**t.
wish I had a 2 fingers/moon smiley for angry_sheep, perhaps he'll be good enough to find one for me?

In fact - just to spice things up a little, both the Scooby and The Coupe are well outclassed by a Cerbera when it comes to sheer road "presence".
There's just something about having LOTS of power, from a BIG normally aspirated engine in a sleek, low, body.
Posy? - yes
Extrovert - definitely
Bit "chest wig"? - Probably
Inappropriately non-PC? - Oh yes indeedy
Fun - you bet
(never driven a Cerbera of course, but my other car comes close )

You can get them for four grand but having seen a couple, I was prepared to pay for a nice one with service history and all the keys, the body picks up dings very easily and some are peppered with dents which you would never get sorted. Always a big variation in price in these, anyway I paid three grand for my Mondeo (2001 Y, 45 K new shape 1.8 lx) which I should get 5 grand plus for so I am still in pocket.

I'm well biased obviously, but I think the Coupe has the TT for coolness, for the following reasons:
1) Its Italian - that's a zillion cool points straight away
2) Its just a little unpredictable, so has that air of "careful, it'll bite you back"
3) Its faster
4) The horn is loud (obviously, being italian) another two zillion points
For the record, I think the TT is an amazing piece of automotive design. As soon as I saw one, I REALLY wanted one. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford one, but several hundred thousand other people could (or more accurately, their wives / GF / mistress could). Go for any long drive and count TTs versus Coupes. The TT has been thoroughly "un-cooled" by its overwhelming popularity, which is a shame, because its still a very good car and looks stunning.
The TT's a bit like sex - if you get it twice a day, every day, it will lose its appeal a little. Getting it once in a while keeps the desirability up
Hmm - twice a day.
Forget it, the TT's not like sex after all.

Which reminds me:
A man comes home to find his wife packing her bags and he asks, "Where are you going?" he asked.
"To Las Vegas! I found out that there are men who will pay me £400 a time to do what I do for you for free!"
The man pondered that thought for a moment, and then began packing HIS bags. "What do you think you are doing?" she screamed.
"Going to Las Vegas with you... I want to see how you'll live on £800 a year!"

Nigel, exactly what I was thinking re the TT, was so chuffed that Audi built it as per the concept six years ago but now the place is full of them, at first it seemed like a mini exotic, now its standard transport for ladies wot lunch and people not daft enough to buy a Fiat coupe.
Nigel, dont you have a Ferrari 355 as well ?
Surprised you find the time for the Fiat if you have a 355 !

Torque on the 355 is terrible, but I'm not bothered, because it means you have to rev it, which is no great hardship 'cos it makes a decent noise
Also, the 355 is just too much when you're not in the mood.
Everyone should own one once in their lives, but as with most things, the reality isn't as rosy as the dream.

Nigel, I meant, find the time in as, can be bothered with a FIat when you own a 355 !
theres a lad round here (An Actor off Coronation Street !) who has a Ferrari 328 so I am going to make it my business to giv ehim some bother seeing as he caned my Golf GTI a few months back !

J4CKO - you'll whup a 328's ***, especially if you end up doing the mods that you're already talking about on the Coupe forum.
Seems my guess of 1 month was waaaaay too conservative
As for using the 355 - it really isn't a winter car. Its just too much of a shame to get it salty. I've already had to have the rear wheelarches repainted doe to corrosion.
Pity really, because no car is meant to sit in a garage - its always a bit iffy when it hasn't been driven for a month or two. Stiff gears, draggy brakes etc.
Can't wait for summer though

Must say after 24 hours of coupe ownership, it is quick !
Quite a bit quicker than my T5 was, and I would say it is quicker than a standard UK Scoob, it corners ok but the ride is, er not exactly relaxing, best thing is, it feels special to drive. I have driven some pretty expensive stuff but this is different, real sense of occasion to driving it. Overtaking wasnt an option in my Mondeo unless you had a spare half hour but this just makes it so easy. It feels fairly well built, doors shut with a weighty clang, not a germanic thud
I wont rule out owning a Scoob at some point in the future but I am really enjoying this.
My four year old Alfred, starts talking at about seven am and goes on for the next twelve hours almost without pausing for breath, I booted it in second, he just made a little whimpering noise and shut up for a full minute, normally its like sharing a car with a Radio one dj.
Must try the horn !
