Anyone got any pictures of a Subaru with these P1 lights fitted?... or these PIAA lights? Are they just the same fitting as the foglamp? Will they run of the foglamp loom or will I need to do some wiring?.....

Will the Subaru dealer sell P1 or PIAA lights?... I'll have to order them from them from the dealer you see.

The body shop are being tw*ts...

They said they can't fit new spec parts as the insurance says it's like for like etc. I also asked them to spray my sills and wing mirrors and they said they'd have to charge me for their labour (why they can't add that to the total bill, for f***s sake!...)
This is not a personal attack but why asume they are being tw*ts? Insurance companies are as tight as they come these days and know the prices of jobs down to the penny. You are talking about 8 hours of labour to spray the sills and mirrors. Thats £200 around here, not to mention the paint and materials cost!

They simply can't add it to the bill - there is no way the insurance would pay.

David,

My assumption was made after I spoke to the jobsworth who went over my car and wouldn't even listen when I suggested saving money by fitting MY00 parts, he was having none of it and was very rude. Hell if this had been some bloke in a pub, I'd have clipped him! Not a very good first impression from the company, which in my opinion is very important.

About spraying the sills & wing mirrors...

I didn't realise that much labour was involved? I said I'd remove the sills and wing mirrors myself - I simply thought they'd just spray them with the bumper using the paint they've had to make up - didn't think it would be any extra work. Ah well. Anyway I've decided if they quote me £150 or less to do the sills and wing mirrors then I'll get them done as well whilst they've got the paint mixed.

Can't wait to get it all done and dusted. My car looks like such a mess!

Cinders,

Always worth remembering that you can take your car to a repairer of your choice. Only problem is that the insurance co. may not give you a courtesy car.

Fortunately I am using Scoobyclinic in Chesterfield who have given me a courtesy car until my MY95 is done. When it comes back it'll be totally facelifted to 2000+ spec, Morettes, STi6 lip, P1 lamps, 22B vents, and fully meshed.

Some specialists are very flexible. I'm even having a FMIC wich required some remodelling of the front bumper - and custom under bonnet relocation for a few components, but they have done it - no problem.

I believe if you find a specialist who is enthusiastic about the marque, they'll be more than happy to help you get what you want done. If you run over budget a little, you can always stump up the extra dough.

Kev

ps.. don't worry about how you're car looks now - but more what it looks like after - hopefully they'll repair to a high standard. if so, once its done, you'll be well chuffed. good luck!

Thanks Kev - it is the end result thats the most important....

I've told them to call me when they've got all the parts in so I can check they've got the right part numbers before I bring my car in - Don't want them messing it up now and fitting an MY98 Grille or something with an MY00 bumper!... It's gotta be MY00 all the way!....

There's a few points I'm a bit bothered about...

1.) The rest of the paint on the car looking faded compared to the new front...

2.) Them not sealing up the vents for the blower and red paint ending up inside the cockpit vents

3.) Them taking my car out and abusing it (I will be recording the millage!)

4.) Any extra dents/dings the car might come back which wasn't there

5.) Not being satisfied with the end job.

I guess at the end of the day I'll just leave the car with them until everything is right and only pick it up once I'm truly happy with it - however long it takes!...

It's a shame I'm selling this car in November when I go to Austrailia for a year! Ah well - Still I know what I'll be buying when I come back....

Nice! Are you going to tint the orange fins in the grille silver or black? Or leave them?....

I just ended up going for the std clear foglamps in the end, it was far too much hassle getting other ones. The Dealer has posted out my new clear headlamps and fogs today, so I'll be able to fit them tomorow and be "legal" on the road!......

Just out of interest, whats behind the orange wedges ? Could you leave them off and get extra cooling to the brakes ? If not, if it was me, I think I'd paint 'em black to look like cooling ducts. Call me a tart if you will

scooby_tc,

if your gonna de-tango your bumper - why not move indicators out completely (along with wedges as per Tony's suggestion) and up to side lights? look a bit meaner at the front... a'la
