Maybe I should just break it - and sell the bits on E-Bay.
Put me down for the .................................. only kidding
Carman, im sorry to see that this isnt selling, the car looks absolutely mint.
Clearly this is a specialist car, that requires a particular kind of buyer.
Try the autotrader as your targeting a much wider audience and people who dont already have a subaru.
Lol losing your patience wont help sell the car Maybe some movement in price could stimulate people. Hope this helps?

How true. Then again he has a 100hp advantage and imho you'd be looking at twice the price to buy the Evo (if it was for sale).
The Prescott class record held by Roy stood at 47.46 until 7/9/03 and I've done a time of 47.63 - so the RA is quick, less that two tenths of a second behind!
To be fair, Standley lowered the record further at the very end of last season, but I genuinely believe my car is an instant ticket to second place in class.
At the price - I do not think you could do better.
It's good to see soemone out there is taking a keen interest in hillclimbing though.

CarMan- Indeed, I've watched your car on several outings and even thought you may had done enough to take the win at the last Prescott.
I also know of Roys history in various other motors which were not impressive.
He appears to have adapted to the Evo in road going form but couldn't cut it in his Tuscan in race trim being seconds of the pace of the other Tuscan, Ferrari and Morgan.
I guess I just can't rate him as a top driver even though he wins the road going class and I am sure he can be beaten with less than equal machinery in the road class.
Maybe a car as well set-up as the Evo helps where he lacks in setting up a car less "trick" out of the box.
You see, when anybody races in a class and kind of makes the numbers up, then moves class and wins, you can't help thinking they way I do.
Having said that, your car is nice but I hate 2nd place!!
Oh and I've been a part of the hill-climbing scene for many years.

Just a little more power - that could be had from a turbo/injectors and it could be a winner perhaps, in the right hands?
Personally, I do not intend to compete this season - hence the sale.
Whatever our opinion - the Evo took the records from a pretty wild Cossie Escort in capable hands (as you will no doubt recall).
I certainly do not rate myself as a really quick driver, so the Scooby has lots of potential I think. 4WD has certainly given me confidence that RWD did not inspire!
It will be hard for me to part with the car, but nothing would please me more than to see it winning on the hills.

If you mean the 'thing' across the nearside spot housing - then it is the timing strut which breaks the light beam that starts and stops the clock. Fixes on in a minute using the spot cover brackets and is now removed with covers back in place.

The car can be a winner with more power as it looked stable enough with what it has and a few more horses to help in the straight line blast wouldn't affect its handling, alternatively you could ask McCrae to guest drive it
Are you coming back with something else next season?
Nice to see we share the same opinion. As for the Cossie, yup, wild would sum that up.
You drove it well and the car does have potential.
If the new driver doesn't own the car and is totally sponsored, well, that has to be worth at least 1/2 second.
4wd does inspire confidence on the narrow hills, there is no doubt.
The trouble is, where do you go from here?
I know what you mean when parting with a good car but if it does remain on the hills and wins then it can't be a bad thing.

Twice the car has been 'sold' now, but it's still in my garage and no-one has even seen it.
Anyway, heading for 3000 views!

Hi CarMan
1st off - a beautiful car. I have owned numerous Stis, including an RA, and must say I am curious as to what this level of mods would do for it! They are mental out of the box....
Moving on, I am very interested in this car but haven't contacted you as it would be a waste of time at the mo - I have three cars to shift first unfortunately!
I do have some questions though, which may be of use to others too. Firstly, is the car driveable as an everyday car? Or is the 'box/drivetrain a bind in traffic? Has it been SVA'd (sorry if mentioned previously)? Is it horrendous on petrol? Is it mapped to run on SUL, or does it require octane booster? Is it reliable? Is the interior stripped ot, or standard? Will you be selling more than one set of wheels with the car?
If this is still for sale when I have sorted my finances out, I will be giving you a call. Meanwhile, good luck with the sale!

Thanks for the kind words. You are right, some if the issues you raise will be of interest to others as well and I'll try to reply objectively.
I thought the car was quick in standard form, but I bought it specifically to hillclimb and as an ocassional run around. I have never needed it or used it as an everyday driver, but I was dissappointed at my first sprint and so the modifications began.
Superhard track springs don't work on the hills but the adjustable DMS gives a firm but compliant ride and with the damper adjustment backed off a bit it is very good on the road. Standard four pots are adequate as they have no time to get hot, but the main improvements have been in response. Initially the GEMS yielded little more bhp but much quicker response and better torque. As the the mods have accumulated there is more bhp too of course. The standard VF23 is good at what it does in my opinion, but I would say is just about as it's useful limit power wise.
The gear ratios encourage rapid progress through the gears, to make the most of max torque. I would say that the accelleration is blistering. It is geared to about 120mph.
Personally, I have had the 'luxury' of it being a fun car and I would not actively promote it's sale as an everyday driver. However, the clutch is not fierce, the gearbox is only very slightly noisier than standard and the gear change is very slick - but it prefers a positive, quick change.
To be honest I do not know if it has been SVA'd!!! It is registered and MOT'd etc but I am not sure what process it went through when imported, although I am fairely sure it came in via Ireland.
I haven't worried too much about fuel consumption but it doesn't feel horrendous. I may be wrong but presumably a car mapped for optimum lambda allowing for engine safety, presumably uses a given amount of fuel per bhp?
When the front mount was first fitted it blew off the hoses regularly but that how now been properly cured. Bearing in mind the mileage I do it is very reliable. On the road or track you'd have to keep a careful eye on the water level for the injection.
At the right money I will include both sets of wheels, or I can keep a set or whatever. I would even consider swapping the gearbox back to standard (if I can source one), if that was an advantage to anyone - with an appropriate reduction in price of course.
The interior is totally standard and unmarked. The harness will come out easy and there is one very small *** burn on the rear seat!
You don't fancy part-exing the M3 then!

Well, I would fancy a PX potentially, but have no idea what an appropriate deal would be to be honest, especiialy since I will want top money for the M3 as its immaculate, low mileage, and just set me back a new VANOS system....
I am being hugely held up by having to sell my brother's Pug for him at the minute. Annoying.

I am assuming that people do sometimes sell their cars on here, although obviously that depends on price, specification and the right person looking at the right time!
I have accepted two offers for the car at considerably less than the asking price, but for reasons best known to those concerned, one has changed his mind and the other has gone very quiet – both of them without even seeing the car, one of the perils of selling.
It would be really useful to know if there is someone out there that would be interested in the car if I did one or more of the following:
a) reduced the price significantly for the whole package as it is
b) put the gearbox back to standard
c) reduced the price even more by removing some of the goodies
d) sell it as standard
e) took a part-ex
f) some other option
I am flexible and realistic and would work with any serious buyer to achieve a price and specification that would suit us both.
The car represents excellent value for money as it is in my opinion and is in superb condition, but I am well aware that it is only worth what someone will pay for it. The idea of this post is to establish if it is the spec or price or both that are wrong, or if there is just no-one wanting to buy at any price?
Feel free to express your views in public, by PM or e-mail – what have you got to lose. There could even be some very nice bits up for sale in due course?

As I've said before, I've driven and raced against this bloody RA.
It is fast, it is strong, it is built well and has ALL the sexy bits on it that you read about and dream of.
It even scrubs up well!
I simply cannot believe that it is still on here.
Those BBS wheels are the flyweight type sold at Demon Tweeks for £450 EACH.
The GEMS has been mapped by The Expert, no home hacking here.
So, why don't I buy it? Because my Sti is 60% modified as this cracker, owes me a fortune, and I have a daughter to put through University!
Worst of it is Carman is a good guy, even though he kept on blowing my doors off!
Some one buy this car, but please don't hillclimb it.......
Cheap as chips, rats.

OK - I've started the ball rolling now and thanks to RallyCol it is now back on a standard RA gearbox, flywheel and clutch.
Various parts are off the car and now for sale, with more to follow. There may be some opportunies for exchange/upgrade deals on parts too.
Next stage will be to get it back onto the standard ecu and tmic - but someone may be interested in the car as it gradually reverts to a milder spec.
