Ive got the sti quick rack steering on my wrc limited 555 sti type ra.There,s a sticker in the rear window with the sti signature.

You are talking of an STI Type R, but this thread is about the WRX V-limited (not STI) Type R/RA...

Please any infos about the transmission!
Leonpoole: you said you do not have a short ratio gearbox?!?!
Is it stronger than the normal gearbox of a WRX?

No i dont have the short ratio box that is an sti item. Mine is a wrx type r/ra so comes with the standard jap ratios which are still shorter that the uk ratios just not as close as the sti ones. As for strength im not sure if its stronger

Thanks for your answer!
Do you know your gearratio?!
There was the ratio of the gearbox I asked (by number) with 0825 in 5th and with the short 4.44 diff you can go a may of 220km/h at 7000revs...

Is yours as short as this? Because the short ratio is the same as an STI Type R/RA!

Seems to be the same transmission.

Would be great if you could tell me your ratio!

It's exactly the same box as the STIs. I'm sure Leon will be able to explain why he believes he has a standard WRX gearbox in his car - Leon, what's the transmission code mate?

ill have a look what the transmition code is on my current scoob. I must admit thought the gearbox on my old scoob (sti) redlined at just over 125mph in 5th. The gearbox in my v-ltd goes upto 140mph. I dont think the v-ltd boxes are the same as the sti/ra ones

It definatley isnt the same box as what is in the sti type r. At 70mph in my old scoob it was 4500rpm ish in 5th. In my v-tld 70 is just over 3000rpm. Although saying that ive heard the 5th gear is different in the v-ltds

Thumbs up WRX TYPE-R

Back again

The TypeR should have a RA gearbox (Race Altered) this type of gearing is better for acceleration especially on good roads with bends and turns on - a driver car.

The standard gearbox will give slower 0-60 but better top end.

Standard JDM WRX Type R has 300bhp on 100 oct fuel.
0-60 mph 4.5 secs or slightly under.
Top end just off 150 mph.

Open deck engine - the RA has closed deck with 2 extra oil sprays on crank.

When I find the camera cable ill post a photo.

Well i dont know what gearbox my old scooby had but it redlined in 5th at just over 125mph so you can imagine how close the ratios were in that and how good aceleration was. Maybe i do have an ra box if thats the case

Thumbs up Gearing performance

Hi m8

I put my V4 WRX Type R V-Limited up against my m8s v5 WRX STI.

Accelaration was better. His revs were 400/500 rpm lower than mine when in 5th at an even pace on the motorway. I nearly said cruising - but the Type R is not a motorway cruising car.

Thumbs up HOW MANY WRX TYPE R's

I went to a one of the good servicing/repair specialist at the weekend to check on the progress of my motor (getting resprayed & undersealed as its new to the UK weather) They said that there not many of the WRX Type R V-Limited cars around, at all mines was built 1998 the numbers 0324 (I think).

Is yours aJ DM if so what ECU have you got fitted.
