And let's hear it for the punk poet himself, John Cooper Clarke, remember him?

This still tackles my ribs...

I married a monster from outer space

The milky way she walks around
All feet firmly off the ground
Two worlds collide, two worlds collide
Here comes the future bride
Gimme a lift to the lunar base
I wanna marry a monster from outer space

I fell in love with an alien being
[She had a head as big as a TV screen]
Whose skin was jelly, whose teeth were green
[A glutinous complexion with a day-glow sheen]
She had the big bug eyes and the death-ray glare
Feet like water-wings, purple hair
I was over the moon, I asked her back to my place
And then I married the monster from outer space

The days were numbered, the nights were spent
In a rent-free furnished oxygen tent
Where a cyborg chef served up moonbeams
Done super-rapid on a laser beam
I needed nutrition to keep up the pace
When I married the monster from outer space

But when we went walking tentacle in hand
You could sense that the earthlings would not understand
They'd go nudge nudge when we got on the bus
Saying "It's extra-terrestial, not like us;
And it's bad enough with another race,
But f*ck me... a monster! from outer space?"

In this kind of atmosphere love went lame
She took a flare to from where she came
I read all the papers, looked up the stars
"Uranus is active and so is Mars"
My horoscope was horrible, told me to my face -
Avoid monsters from outer space

In a cybernetic fit of rage
She pissed off to another age
She lives in 1999
With her new boyfriend, a blob of slime
Each time I see a translucent face
I remember Errrrxxzztt from outer space.

Sillysi, I don't remember that particular Crass lyric - the one that sticks in my head is "Securicor Cares"...

I walk around with a big alsation,
He'll re-arrange you with no provocation,
And I'm the bugger who has got the lead,
You'll have to be bright if you want to get at me.

Securicor cares. Securicor cares.
Securicor scares the **** out of you,
Do you want to come closer?

STI-Frenchie, I can't remember the title it's been a long time since I listened to them. But all this talk has made me think it is time to dig out the old vinyl and crank the volume up one last time.

Crass were dreadful yet superb at the same time. ANOK4 U 2? Stations of the Crass, etc.

Didn't even they go all soft in the end and try to sell out commercially?

Don't know, I moved on to bands such as Extreme Noise Terror. One class moment a recall was watching a video of The Expolited and Watty (SP?) saying "I don't need the band, I could go solo", who was he trying to kid he was a right plonker but good entertainment. I spent a lot of time listening to the Dead Kennedys and Jello when he did his own stuff.

So uncle buck and Gary Bushell seem to have followed the same career path.

Punks in their youth (gb used to write for the NME,big time exploited fan)
Progressed to paid up members of the "hang em and flog em" brigade
Ended up as TV critics.....

..or are they one in the same.....

LOL not really. The 'mouth pieces' were, but I was just in it for the chicks and the general crazyness of performing on stage. Great fun it was too.

We 'worked' with the Anti **** League and Rock Against Racism, that's why it always makes me laugh when I get accused of be a fat racist by the politically correct on here. They don't know the first thing about being in the front line *against* racists.

Crisis song with the chorus "Riga ... Treblinka ... Dachau ..."?
Buggered if I know now. Might have been Search and Destroy, but they all had lyrics like that LOL

you name dropper you UB!
Moi? I've got loads and loads of stories. Like the time when...bla...bla...bla...

Talking

Paulr - Gary Bushell interviewed us for the NME, he was quite a fan. I've still got it somewhere.

You might be closer to the truth than you think.
