End of rant - trial by video is the way forward .........Nice car though

If it's trial by video, then the verdict must be guilty.
Bad move.

At my group briefing, Sasha did say drivers would be black flagged for poor driving, as they didn't want standards to drop to the level of the hot hatch days.

But the easiest way to improve both hot hatch and top marques days would be, that the cars need to be road legal (with tax, insurance and MOT).

If people have competition cars, use them for what their built for. Entered into proper races. Knockhill strangely enough do such events.
Then we can see if they really are quick.

As mentioned earlier, most drivers on Sunday need their cars for every day use, and this should be remembered by all who took part.

That's my rant over too.

100% guilty.

Hopefully Knockhill will take a tougher stance on drivers of stupid overtaking manouverers like this, that are starting to make Knockhill days like Hot Hatch days. It's always the same, small minority of drivers that do it and they wouldn't be missed by the majority.

To quote David :-

"But the easiest way to improve both hot hatch and top marques days would be, that the cars need to be road legal (with tax, insurance and MOT)."

I think that's a wise idea but maybe not for Hot Hatch days when cars are usually of the older & stripped out. Generally on TM days, cars are over £10k in value and used as every day chariots.

I wonder what the owners of the £60k plus GT3's think when an XR2 comes charging up their rear. From memory a Fiat Bravo Estate was also on track recently on a TM day and wreaked havoc with poor driving..........WTF !

Angry Back to basics

Hey Matey, leave me out on this one. Never saw the vid clip and wasn't at the track on the day. Why not put it to a vote?????? Get all the opinions of the folks who were there on the day.
If it's going to come to this everytime there is a track day then KH would be best to cone off the corners like they do on hot hatch days to keep the kiddys in line.

Feedback from KH would be good on this. I know the guys there and I'm sure they couldn't respond to every car bbs after every track day.

A decision on stripped out, high powered race cars testing for the season on track with someones standard (albeit powerful) road car needs looked at?

I am in no way getting at anyone but it does put people off going on track and having one of the best experiences of their life.

Dinnae want to be doing that as this has the potential to cause serious agro on here. It's too easy to be blunt on a BBS when the intended message was softer..

Anyway i have a bigger dilemma...I fekn hate Knockhill. Ever since Sunday I've been surfing the various sites looking for ways to improve ma bucket of bolts...

Suspension. The Prodrive springs are PANTS. Good on road, but woeful on track, although even with the car in barge mode it still had some serious grip.

Brakes. Need I say more.....Godspeed, AP, Alcon, Tarox, etc. I've priced them all.

Horses...I NEED MORE!!!!!

Driving Talent, yes I'll have one of those off the shelf too please.

Sunday gave me the chance to have a back to back comparison, albeit two years apart with my old Evo6. God I miss her so bad!! That was a car. Santa may get a special request this year.

John,

When I got my STi at first, I did a SIDC track day with the standard Brembo brakes, and they were crap.

Changed the pads to Mintex 1155 with some decent fluid, and it was a great improvement. Same set up as I ran the EVO 6 with.

I did 4 or 5 track days last year and never had any more problems with the brakes.

A cheap and easy fix, for what I use the car for.

Dave I think that's the way to go. I'm not going to make the 13th or 20th, but I'll get back up in April, so I hope to have it done for then.

I put the Mintex 1155 pads on the Evo, v.good stopping power but they squealled like a b'tch. Can't remember hearing yours make a single peep, even when cold.

Just a general point (and not about the Escort), I don't think it should really matter if you're driving a Nissan Micra or highly tuned rally car. At the end of the day, it's all down to the nut behind the wheel to wait for a safe moment to get by a slower driver. Also there's some onus on slower drivers to be aware of faster drivers and let them by, where safe to do so. It's simple trackday etiquette.

There's no reason for any problem if people use their brain more and stop driving with their ego in charge.

Talking about Mintex 1155. I run them on my car all round with RBF 600 fluid. They were fine, just the dust that bothers me. As for noise they only squeel when I'm braking in reverse, bit embarrasing in Tescos but there fine.

Jamie,
Mine do the same.
Never make a sound forwards, sometimes get a squeal in reverse.

John,
The pads and calipers are the same for the EVO and STi, but the discs are a better spec, and are less likely to warp.
(that last bit came from the technical guru's at Pagid, before it starts an arguement)

Dave, I'm going for the DS2500s, fluid and goodridge hoses. Getting them done next week by George @ Swifts. I'm hoping this will transform the car as even on road use at the moment, I'm struggling to slow it down and have to plan ahead

I really want to get the handling side sorted first before any more horses are added. IMHO it has enough for the moment, as it still has the ability to give a few 'oh fekc!!' moments. I need to learn to drive first
