Thanks for all the shared experiences.

I will be patient and a willing to give a little more than I do.

we've been living together for 2 years now, best thing we did was buy a dishwasher
We only had room for one such appliance and the misses won and had a washing machine. Told her the laundrette is just down the road but she wasn't having it. Hope to move this year, guess what the first thing on the shopping list is?? Yup a dishwasher!! They are good, but then the argument is about who will load / unload it rather than who will do the washing / drying.

dishwasher is high on my list of priorities, too. (Only been living together for 7 years!) We have different ideas abhout what consitutes washing up:

her: leave a load of dishes in the sink. at some point turn on the tap and squirt in washing up liquid. at some point later remove dishes and put them on drying rack.

me: take the results of the above, place into freshly drawn hot water and washing up liquid, wash, rinse, dry and put away.

this caused very heated arguments in the past, but these issues have been at least partially resolved now.

Dishwasher absolutely.

I also insist that I share the phone bills as long as she shares SKY digital and Broadband subscription.

Also demand that the garage is for the car and not the 15 years of crap she's accumulated, to sweeten her let her throw out all your clothes she thinks doesn't suit you (and lets face it they don't ) - and let her take you shopping, you pay of course

I also find her wanton desire to spend £££ on shoes every month is easily offset by my cavalier attitude to ££££ spend on my car

She can arrange the furniture, choose the decor etc as long as the hifi and telly stay as they are.

Get a gardener

And if you can afford to run a scoob, you can afford a cleaner

Moving in is a stressful experience, it involves a lot of patience and give and take. My b/f and I moved in together 2 1/2 years ago... Its only now that we're going to find out what living together is REALLY like... I was diagnosed with cancer 6 months after we moved in.
He's been a star, supporting me physically and financially probalby more than I should have expected him to, but then I know that I'd do the same for him. Now I have the all-clear, we can finally start living together like 2 healthy people!

Just persevere... the arguements should lessen as you get more used to each other.

Talking

i find that the arguments fade away as you get to passed half way down the bottle of scotch - you just don't care anymore.
