Default WR1 on order

Having read all the posts on this subject I really don't give a toss what anyone thinks about the WR1. I've got one on order and can't wait for it to arrive!

Speaking to a dealer today, he confirmed that IM have strongly warned dealers not to discount the WR1, and IM would be vetting sales before allowing delivery of the dealers allocation. Mind you, this could be complete bo11ox, just to get me to fork out £30k!

For those that have seen it in the flesh . . . . how similar is it to STi silver??

Thumbs up

Daz DCCD-A and a quick rack are available, in a choice of 3 body colours, the info is freely available on Subaru Japan website....

"IMPREZA WRX STi DCCD SOLBERG EDITION

Driver’s Control Centre Differential (DCCD)

Uniquely derived from WRC feedback, DCCD is a system that puts you in complete control at the touch of a button. Manual Mode lets you change the front to rear torque distribution as you want, to change handling characteristics for quicker turning, more stable high-speed cornering and so on. Select Automatic Mode, and torque is distributed automatically to suit driving conditions – leaving you free to concentrate on smooth, sports driving techniques. With DCCD, the choice is always yours."

Greasemonkey, yes know where you are coming from, i didn't realise they were driving lamps, and i hate the grille's. Plain back interior is very drab, it is standard in EU as well as UK, and (personal opinion)the gear **** should have been the plain metal STi sphere. A recent finding by the EU Commission, means that parts available in any member state (or parts of a "similar standard", when fitted to vehicles from another member state will not invalidate the warrantry.

I'm not knocking the WR1, the spec (PPP, lights, wheels, springs, gear ****, etc) is very similar to my Prodrive STi, so I'm sure that will be a great drive, just that i think you may get better value in mainland europe

For me personally I still rate the WR1 as the most perfect impreza yet (hence my putting a deposit down!). I personally want a UK supplied car, I'm not interested in an import. Each to their own though and fair due to anyone who prefers to go down the import route.

As to discounts, I doubt any dealer would do anything price wise. I know a few dealers still have the odd car for sale but most it seems have sold their allocation. I got my deposit down on the 15th January and I'm still third in line Told to expect my car somewhere around June-August.

I've asked this before but has anyone actually got a delivery date yet and if so when is their car due?

Cool What is the point of this Thread?

You'll never get an objective answer from anyone who has ordered a WR1, they are already in love with it, wait until she has been round the block a few times and the rose tinted spectacle may be taken off.

I personally can't understand why anyone would trade in a MY03 Sti for one and take a £10K hit. If I was prepared to take a £10K hit I'd go the whole hog and definitely get the Type 25, no competition!

And since when was a Matt black interior more desirable to the Standard blue Alcantara, I can't believe some people will get taken in by that sort of guff!

I've taken a so called 10k hit on an 03 STI against a WR1 for the following reasons:

1) I really like the car and all the extras on the WR1 would have cost about 5k to upgrade my STI.
2) I want a UK spec car.
3) The WR1 has more power than if I fitted a PPP to my STI and believe it or not I have actually been quoted cheaper insurance on the WR1 than on my standard STI.
4) And the biggest reason of all is that I CAN AFFORD IT, nuff said.

Hi Scooby Peep's.

It's been a while since I've been here, lost my last scooby to the house I now have. But the itme has arrived to get another.

In the next couple of weeks I'm off to place my deposit on a WR1.
After some large amounts of research I have found the following and would like to clear a couple of things up.

1, there is no build numbers for the units that are coming, 500 only. This is the min required for the car to be see as a rally spec car, same as the cossie 500.
2, standard 18" 25mm lower springs
3, only this car will be in the released colour
4, I keep wetting my pants thinking about her
5, The garage I'm dealing with have 6 coming and have sold only 2 so far.

Any top tips for insurance companies, I used performance direct last time, any other takers?

That is incorrect Aino. The RS500 might have been a homologation special, but the WR1 isn't. International Motors could have decided to sell as many, or as few as they felt like. The 500-off number was a commercial consideration only, no motorsport rules involved at all.

Re insurance try direct line online they list the WR1 and quoted me under £900 I am 35 with 5+ years ncb and 3 points for speeding, however I am currently with liverpool and victoria and they have changed the policy over to the WR1 (ready for when it turns up as I know its number plate) from my P1 (sold) at no extra charge till renewal in may will look at other quotes at may renewal as direct line also quoated £1100 including my 25 year old girlfriend, might go for that.

No problem! FWIW the homologation special used for Group N is (well, are, cos two different cars are homologated) the Japanese market STi Spec C.

I was quoted £703 with a £650 excess with direct line for a WR1, 38 yrs old 3 points on license. I was paying £750 with a £650 excess on my standard 03 STI.

Not started negotiating yet but have a starting price of £25,555.

I'll split the difference from the above price and list if you don't mind being the 2nd owner.

Smile Due in April

My WR1 is due in April which i ordered 4 weeks ago at the time my dealer had sold 2 of the 3 he was allocated mine was the last one.
How many of you have placed a order as it seemed odd to order a car without driving or seeing the car in the flesh?
This means I am going to have to sell my 1997 STI V3 soon which I imported in sept 2000. I hope the WR1 will bring a smile on my face in the same way as driving my present scooby if so this will be worth every hard earned pound.

Roll on April

ps anyone looking to own a classic scooby with over 300bhp I can send some pictures when i am back home.

all the best Tim

Just curious, have you got your delivery confirmation letter now then? I haven't found anyone on this board yet who has received one so would be nice to know that someone finally has

I'm also jealous now, ordered mine 15th January and told it will likely be available June-August.

A dealer confirmed today that IM have orders on around 50% of the 500 WR1s. Best deal I could get on no p-ex was £500 cashback!!!

Ordered mine on the 12/1/04. Was told I was high up the list. The dealer thinks early April, but can't get a firm delivery date out of IM, or a final spec for the car, not even confirmation of what dealer accessories are valid if any(e.g. Car radio and other stuff off the STI list etc). So having put down 1k as a deposit, All I have is a receipt and a big expectation!

I dont want to start a slanging match, ie my Impreza is better than yours type of thing, but what about the forgotten Impreza the S202, I have one and can strongly recommend it, it has great ability and remember they are very reasonably priced now because they are in the 'fugly' bodyshell, but these cars were changing hands at nearly 40K not so long ago
