Cor, that's cheap... I pay an Extorsionate €135 tax a year, and I bet your petrols cheaper too. Do you have 100 Octane V-Power and unrestricted motorways, otherwise I might just stay here and bear the high prices ![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
Still I can allways fill up with cheap 99octane Optimax in Austria and I don't have to speak French![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)

I'm a tory and always have been. But lets face it, no matter how much they slag off labours proposals, if they get in next time they won't change any of them.
This is a stealth tax. I would accept it 100% if it was a worldwide initiative, but a little island off europe isn't going to affect worldwide pollution levels even if we all walk to work.
The tw*ts will probably invent a CO2 gun or a decibel gun soon, all in the name of the environment with nice litte revenue earning fines to go with it.

The general idea seems to be to f**k the people who don't vote Labour off to the point where they start to emigrate, and move hundreds of thousands of poor immigrant Labour voters in by way of a replacement.

I thought the Poll Tax was fair, every adult should pay for the services provided, not just homeowners. But for whatever reason it was rejected, but people now accept ridiculous rises in council tax every year without complaint. Why????
Lets face it the only completely fair system would be everything privatised - then you pay only for what you use.

I know what you mean about having to speak french (lowercase 'f' deliberate). All I need to know are the numbers, for which pump I used then please and thank-you and that's really all. (oh and before I get flamed by the rest of Europe for being a lazy Englishman, I can speak some Spanish, are far more useful language, just not here
![Frown](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Yeah it's only €0.87/litre for SUL

As for unrestricted motorways, again no, but then there are only two police cars in the Grand Duchy, no radar (or more specifically cameras due to privacy laws) and any way, by the time you've got up any speed you've driven through the entire country it's so damn small LOL!

Alistair Darling should be tried by a motoring jury.
Off with his bo**ocks I say.
At this rate it will soon be civil war.![Mad](images/smilies/mad.gif)

It is about time somebody tried to do something to curb the rampantly wasteful car journeys that people make in this country.
Let's see, we've been on the planet for millions of years, and managed to survive ok without cars until the last 100 (50 really, as not many had cars until then). We're getting through just about ALL of the North Sea's oil in under a century (oil which took millions of years to create), and yet people still feel they have the right to pi$$ it all away on needless journeys they could quite easily do on foot/bicycle/public transport (ie, more green methods).
Given this rampant car use cannot be curbed by anything but fiscal penalties, I'd actually applaud the first goverment in the world to tax personal transportation by a HUGE amount more. It's about time, for instance, that the Yanks got a sharp hike in their fuel duties (indirect or direct).
You're all selfish b'stards the lot of you! Think of the planet, and the impact your actions are having on the future for your children, and their children, etc.

I don't 'quite' get why those who earn most should pay higher taxes??
They will pay more because they earn more - but why should they pay a higher rate than those who can't command more than the average wage of £40k?
I think New Labour are doing a fantastic job! The £1000 will go to build new hospitals and schools and prisons!! Can't see the issue really?
Oh, yes, and speeding fines should be £200 each - with 6 points
That should spice things up![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)
