Okay, now that's the sorta quote I like to hear, especially from someone like Mike...

The "Grin" factor is a major reason for my buying the Scooby in the first place and I imagine the same for many Scooby owners. The fact that the grin comes from the awesome performance and handling (in my opinion of course!) just adds to the charm of the cars.

Come on everyone, don't we all love our Subarus, no matter what make or model...

What a load of bo11ox.
5 pages of ****e!!
Look you muppets.
If you want the first UK car with the warranty etc with all the bits on for under £30k go and buy it ans stop worrying about pub bu11**** figures that to most folk who will buy it mean jack anyway.
Most of you will probably be far more concerned about how fast the pollish will dry on it rather than drive it and as for DCCD whatever.....
It will help you a lot when pulling up at the latest pub car park for another look what Subaru I have meet

He he.
No just speak my mind.
Its simple as I said earlier.
Buy it and enjoy or buy an Import.
Dont winge when your Import breaks mind you it probably wont.
You have to decide and go with your choice.

I am in exactly the same boat mate.
Keep my car till the warranty runs out and look to replace it with something nearly new for the same monthly overhead

I remember when I got my first real fast car, around 260bhp/ton, spent a lot of money on it carbon bodywork, high spec 6sp box, AP brakes. Went out for a drive with a mate of mine who has the same make of car but about 15 years old and with maybe 180bhp/ton.

I could not keep up with him. Why - at that time he was a much better driver than me. Does not matter how much power you have, if you dont know how to use it you might as well be driving a milk float.

(BTW not saying you guys dont know how to drive)

Which is precisely where I am at now but as the interest rates are so much lower now I can get brand new for less than I paid for a nearly new six years ago. Can't be bad...

If you like the car, remove 30K from your wallet and buy one

If you don't like it then shut up and stop spouting loads of mindless cr@p which isn't true anyway!!

The only person to have tested this car, and more to the point built it is Mike ... so I'm thinking perhaps that he should know!!

You also seem to forget the fact that Mike has led a very sheltered life.
Was brought up in darkest Wales by sheep.
Never went to school as a child and even now doesnt know his times tables or his ABC.
Sorry to bring it up Mike but I just felt it was the right time.
Bye the way how did you learn to walk in those wellies so young and actually catch a sheep.
I can never manage it when I try.
I just feel sorry for his wife.
it must have been hard trying to make all those changes.
still glad he`s found happiness now in sunny Warwickshire at Prodrive.
Hows the development coming along for that new milking machine???

Dr. Lines and Dr. Wood,

I'm looking forward and pretty much certain you've got the WR1 handling exceptionally well, if not at the top of the heap.

The only part I doubt is the steering feel. Now I know your not responsible for the complete/inherent chassis design- indeed I understand that the new generation car has yet more metal (subframes) and rubber in which to take the touch in ones fingers away from the tarmac below- or so to speak. However maybe, just maybe, a few trips in the gold standard for 4WD steering feel, the Integrale, might at least make for some interesting comparisons as to what messages from the tamac do and do not get up to the driver. Maybe if the subframes were taken out all-together and/or all the rubber- and some rose-joints in the right places, for some super-special P2!

what mike says makes me go all squiffy - I guess I'll just wait and see! I may not always spend 1/3 of my clutch at the lights but peak performance figures also indicate what it does in the real world as well (i.e. -1 second) - my Sti8 is definitely faster than the 911 carrera 4 I used to drive for example - if the right stat is fastest time round bedford then so be it - I still have no idea if I am genuinely buying a "P1" quality motor or an Sti PPP in a party frock - that is all my question is. sorry for being a bore

If Subaru were really smart they would do a WR1 wagon with sunroof & split folding rear seat. Then those of us who wish to mix our boy-racer urges with our family responsibilities would also be able to buy.
