Yeah im near Horsham as well, makes me wonder if its me.
But my car makes a lovely noise so it can't be
and i'm not responsible for the huge exhaust as it was on there from Japan

Exactly. As far as I'm concerned, the less attention my car attracts, the less likely it is to attract the sort of attention I don't want.

Once a ned, always a ned Chrissy, is that really the best you can do? If you're going to subject us to your inconsiderate "My car's loud, I don't give a f*ck" attitude, and then trip yourself up every time you try and spell a word with more than two syllables in it, expect to have the mickey taken.

To those of you who think that a loud decatted Subaru is perfectly acceptable in residential areas, what are your views on mopeds with baffle-less straight through exhausts ? Acceptable noise or not acceptable ?

Yeah i know what your getting at

A moped sounds like a bumble bee but a scooby sounds nice and deep, not as tormenting as a moped even if as loud

I really don't mind the "distinctive rumble", it's the tendency for people to really boot it in a 30, often late at night, back and forth, or in the day time when kids are on the pavement. I guess they can't resist the noise and I can relate to that but I think it requires a little more thought and consideration.
I'm amazed at how many people have agreed with me. Thought I'd get a real slating

Well my Impreza Sport is currently running a Ninja backbox with an afterburner centre section and de-cat2 pipe. Being NA this does make it very loud, and i love the sound. However late at night i wont thrash it near home. Not that it really matters, i live on a main road so bloody noisey anyway, i knew this when i bought the house so cant complain. The loudest things i hear anyway are the harley's ragging it past!
Nothing wrong with loud exhausts, as long as you are considerate to others when its necessary

Holy snot, Horsham's a popular place - ME TOO !

AND after six weeks of open engine surgery, I get my MR2 Turbo back this Saturday.

De-cat, BLITZ NUR SPEC (MAN I love this exhaust) and a new stage 5 hybrid turbo

SO, if you see (or hear ) a Black MR2 in Horsham this weekend - IT'S ME !

I have to say tho, it's rarely the exhaust that's the real annoyance. If it's me in a built up area, you'll hardly hear my exhaust (er, well, kinda) because I'll be tootling along at 30. However, if a PECO'd <shudder> 1.0L Nova goes by revving and driving like a ****, he'll cause much more offense than little old me !

And besides, my Nur spec has been measured at a measly 106dB

I also have a firestorm with full decat, I like to drive mine up and down someone elses street at full tilt first thing in the morning. Always fun to count the number of lights that go on .

Nah, not really, its very noisy and if using in the morning try and creep out at 900 rpm. However no complaints and yes it is completely legal (apparently).

Ru the considerate (at times)

I've got to say I agree it's not the exhausts that are the problem it's the inconsiderate ejeets who drive like to$$ers that are the problem.

My car is v v loud (Gruppe-s manifold, TSL open neck DP and Blitz NUR spec-r). I live in quiet cul-de-sac and have a tendancy to get up very early on a sunday morning. Yet I still manage to be friends with all my neighbours??? No they're not all petrol heads who love it. I just have a bit of consideration for others. So when early or late I drive very quietly and all my neighbours are all fine with it.

I got a Type R with a Scooby mania 3" full through and Roger clarke Open neck downpipe and since having it fitted. The neighbour down the street isnt complaining at all.

Where as before with a magnex downpipe with standard diameter pipe powerflow exhaust everynight when I reversed the car onto the drive at tickover and only using the clutch she would be yelling and shouting and alsorts. My immediate next door neighbour reckons she makes more noise than what my car does. Might have to kidnap her and get her to sing in the boot. LOL

But it shouldnt matter what exhaust you got on the car just remember we got alot of daylight hours when people arent sleeping so much that we can go onto motorways and into tunnels and hear those lovely burbles without having to wake the whole neighbourhood up.

Just remember that those people that cant sleep might be having to drive Coaches or buses with peoples lives on board. So if you got kids that take school trips or buses then think the driver may not have had enough rest. Then whos fault is it if he kills somebody.
