pidgeon sat morning coming off the m23 where you run down toward handcross
saw the bloody thing sitting there...
thinks ... it,l move.... it will... it has to.........nope it aint......
speed distance ratio greater than weight lift ratio.....
straight over it... bang thud bump feathers everywhere.........
had a head on with a pidgeon left a lovely feather dust picture on the windscreen................
hit a blackbird on the way to a breakers yard salisbury way.. it shot out of a hedge . hit the front of the car bounced onto to bonnet and over the top...
was commenting to my second wife as i drove down the same road 5 years later...
bu**er me if another blackbird did the exact same stunt (and it died too)
the only ones that have got away were three tiny fox cubs sitting in the middle of the road on a blind bend... put the bike very wide to avoid..
little blighter were blinded by the h/ light and froze...
ran back and shooed em into the hedge...

2 Years ago, approx 70-80mph on the A127 had just spent a day, cleaning and polishing and all ruined by a big fat fox!
Front Spoiler
foglights
Radiator
Radiator Grill
bonnet catch
number plate
The worst part was removing all the fox fur from the engine and half a fox from the front spoiler, not to mention the 2 months we had to wait for all the various parts to be imported and fitted as the insurance company could not source any parts in the UK.

Not me this time but I remembered another one that happened to the m8.
He was excited about getting his mk2 rs1800 back on the road after some engine work, naturally he took it for a blast around some tasty twisties, were he met a rabbit at some silly speed, destroyed rad/front spolier/front panel to make it worse in his haste he had forgot to put the filters back on the 45's, yup he had bits of rabbit in the carbs.

I was doing 70 down the A11 near Newmarket in the dark a couple of years ago and one of those little Muntjac (sp?) deer leapt out in front of me.
BANG!!!! and a huge spray of broken glass, plastic, hair etc shot up and over the roof.........
Offside fog light disappeared, front bumper nearly torn off its mountings, cooling and aircon rads bent right back etc etc. £1400 of damage but still driveable, and amazingly no damage to the bonnet or wings.
My son had been following behind me and his car caught all the shrapnel and needed a full respray!!

A few years ago (not in a Scoob) on a local "fast" road near some marsh land, a couple of Ducks were on final approach and didn't account for me passing through their flight path. One hit the top of the windscreen and bounced off, the other hit head on into drivers side window. Result- one grounded & stunned duck with major headache, it didn't last long, the truck coming up behind me saw to that.
Only last weekend in the scoob this time doing a "healthy speed" on another local fast road, a stoopid hare ran straight into my path going right up the centre white line in the same direction as me, making a brave attempt to out run me! He went left a bit' right a bit' by which time I was well on the brakes. Finally he peeled off to the right and saved me from a scooby frontal clean up job. Just no road sense these animals' I think he's still running from the fright! (So is the missus!)

Hit a fox coming back from Dave T-S's a couple of years ago. Bugger came out of no where. Didn't even have time to swerve or brake. The worst thing was the double bump as it went under the front and rear tyres
At least it was quick.
Hit a few birds, the funniest one (for us, not the bird) was while playing golf down in Cornwall. The bird flew across the front of my brother-in-law's car. Didn't think much of it until we got to the golf course. There were two little legs sticking out of the radiator grill. I bet the bird was p***ed - we thought it was hilarious![Smile](images/smilies/smile.gif)

This is a 'not quite' road kill tale :
On my bicycle, heading to work on and I take a detour on country roads I'm not too familiar with, fairly dark (maybe November time or so)
Hear a noise from the rhs of the road : small deer runs across the road maybe 10 yds in front of me :
"Jeez" think I "that was close !"
Next thing is the mother runs out following offspring ONLY JUST missing me
"Holy cow - THAT was close !!"
I probably very slightly touched the brakes after the first one ran out - Think I might have suffered a few bruises if either had hit me !
Since then I've had a few near misses including a grouse that ran out and went just beneath my bike : if it had been a fraction quicker/slower I could have minced it with the spokes !
