Since the top two gears have a lower ratio...what difference in top speed would there be between the two? I've got the UK 2.0L so for now I'd need the higher gear ratio for the lower red line yeh?

Doesn't cause the different drop gearing also a different torque spread? (as I've read in another topic!) The Eurospec cars do have a F/R spread of 55/45 compared to 50/50 for the JDM if I remember correctly. Not quite unimportant in my opinion. I hate the big rev drop from 4th to 5th in the Euro 6mt!

I also hate the stepped ratio between 4 and 5 on the Euro STi's - the JDM ratio's suit me much better, I get similar power delivery in every gear. 100mph is around 4050rpm on the JDM 6th.

But as can be seen above, there's more to answering your question - the thread started discussing capacity, and is now swiftly moving onto handling too

On my car, I fitted a plated rear diff (from an STi v3) and replaced all the rear end bushing with Powerflex items at the same time as swapping the box. I can't categorically state which part had which impact, but if the road bahviour so far is an indicator then I expect the car to be much quicker when pushed to the limits on track.

The torque distribution feels much more rear biased - flooring it at the apex is no longer an option (unless I'm showboating ), as the rear will just step out instantly. This will (I hope) have a major impact on track because I'll be able to exit corners with the rear drifting slightly, rather than the front desperately trying to steer and get power down (causing front wheel drift....horrible!). Caveat: I only experienced this behaviour on track, and it was normally a direct result of entry speed being to high....a better driver could drive around it

I assume everything I've done plays a small part in this; 6MT provides immediate power in any corner assuming correct gear selection and bushing takes up a huge amount of slack at the rear (different car to drive!). In an ideal world I would have fitted the stock Euro diff first, and then dropped in the plated item, to provide a comparison between the two. But it's too much work

What's not clear is what Mark mentions regarding the propshaft speed with the different drop gearing. My prop is spinning faster (even in the first 4 gears) than a Euro 6MT 3.54:1 car - logic suggests this must have an impact (gyroscopic affect if nothing else?)?

The major downside of any 6MT is 1st gear being too short for a hard launch - by the time I'm off the clutch I need 2nd; but this has no impact on track. I rarely go above 240kmh anyhow, so the shorter top gear (compared to Euro 5MT) is no problem for me - in fact, means less gear changing on the autobahn when drivers with hats finally pull over

Anyone know the different ratios figures for the JDM to UK 6 Speed?? Just so I can work out what the difference in speeds will be...if few mile n' hour in top, then I wouldn't worry about it.
