Believe me Martin, you do not need your car driven like that EVER. It is the most brutal thing I ever have to do (other than listen to Arron occasionally ) and should not be repeated on your own car under any circumstances.

Would it be fair to say the warranty would be void if one were to try and match your performance figures?

Sorry boy's sligtly off subject

The WR1, IMHO ticks most of the boxes for potential STiUk owners and lots of peeps new to Subaru I reckon will be sold out very soon.

Mike,
Whats the colour of the next 500 ??

ive read all these posts some with, surprise, some with a chuckle and some with sheer disgust.

But everyones opinion is their own.

If money were an object then a std WRX maybe someones ultimate impreza

if not then the T25 may fit the bill

day to day driving the WR1 may fit peoples skills etc more than the Type c

If its colour then the Wr1 may NOt suit either

Who knows EVERYONE is different

Two things are for sure tho :-

1 Prodrive COULD have done a LOT LOT better if IM had let them. Look what they can do with a rally car, imagine giving them more margin to allow a car to be sold at £35,000 aka the T25 me thinks things would be different then.

2 Litchfields have done a SUPERB job bringing a 350+ bhp NEW impreza to the Uk market forget its an import and rejoice that the UK public can buy a NEW 350+bhp impreza from a respectable source not some "modded as an afterthought yeah its 350+ bhp guv car "

Well done to both camps.

Me i cant wait to see what IM let Prodrive do to BEAT the WR1......

Hawk

ps Mike my MY02STI thingamy jig is still available for development if you need to "go back to basics"

"that makes 21, out of 500"

Just a correction to that - Subaru have only released 300 cars to dealers so far. So it's perhaps more accurate to say 22 (including me), out of 300.

Nick

All the comparisons are pretty irrelevant unless you actually drive them all and pick the one you like.

Having said that, I bought my RB5 without driving it first and never regretted it and when the P1 was released I just wasn't convinced it was worth the dosh.

£30-£35K's a whole lot of money for an Impreza. If you can afford it and like the colour, then go for it. Life's too short to worry about what everyone on SN thinks of you or your car.

Great thread.

One thing is missing though. If Prodrive produced their equivalent of the T25 now, what would it do next year ?

Being in Sales & Marketing, I tend to look at bit a product lifecycles. Dont give them everything now.

Hopefully our allies across the water will realise that a 2.5 Turbo needs to be homologated and get through Euro Emmisions.

After that Bob or Mike W's your uncle.

The only concern is letting someone like Arron out in one. He proved his skills in an M3 are limited, really he should stick to cars like the Renault Clio to hone his talents first.

Whilst my commision payments wont let me order a WR1 at the moment, I think its a damn good car from where I'm looking. Not sure about the colour still, but I would order one over a T25. Cheltenham is a real pain to get to if I'm not happy. It would appear that you would need to go to Powerstation if you had any real issues ? I'm after hastle free motoring where my dealer comes to work, picks up the car and delivers it back a few hours later. Top marks to Iain for the T25 though. Hope he does well with it.

Am I mad to move from my STiV to the WR1? Want to know what sort of folk want one of these cars?

Mine is on order and all I can say is that if it has at least the same grunt as my car then I will be happy, I am really looking for better handling in a newer, safer car that is destined to become my project after the warranty runs out with all the cars history known to me) I have 2.6 kids more than when I got the STiV so safety (even for the shopping run) is one of my considerations.

I expect that I will enjoy it for what it is as I scare myself (just a bit) when I drive the STiV to its limits anyhow .... but not quite as much as when I ride the 996 to the ragged edge!

So, one more member (albeit a newbie) that's gettin a WR1, and I do consider myself an enthusiast .... as those around me will testify!

I am sure servicing can be done anywhere as long as it's to the schedule etc etc.

I am not sure about the warranty work though.

Fortunately for me I'm just up the road, and it doesn't take long to get there in my very quick Spec C

I think the WR1 is value for money when compared to the STI UK, however I was a little underwhelmed by the performance when I drove it, especially low down, where the JDM twin scroll setup makes the car so much more driveable IMHO.I was amazed at the difference when I first drove one.

I don't think anyone with an STI+PPP would really notice much of a difference performance wise.

I`ll note that Chins was pathetic in his M3 at the very same track day that I attended in my M3.
I also remember a few "my Subaru is the best thing since sliced bread even in the wet" people being somewhat surprised about the M3`s performance in the wet
You see its all down to the driver
Me I could whip Schuey in a three wheeler.
It is hard work being this good I can tell you

O'Hara reminds me daily that you learnt all of your driving skills from him Arron!! Is this true, or is he suffering from fat head syndrome?
