Hi guys

Maybe micronet simply list every car available & calculate the normal discount thay they usually get from their friendly dealer source. So if for instance, they know they can get Subarus from the Fred Bloggs dealer & get 10%, maybe they just assumed that they can also source a WR1? My feeling on this is that they can't get one, it's just a bored operator entering loads of cars & not checking.

Tend to agree with Rum on this, all seems too fishy given the strictures IM have imposed when the cars are ordered. Time will tell though...

Micronet confirmed to me that they had already placed orders for the WR1 and still had availability. Yes I smell a rat too, but the rat seems to be a legit UK WR1 and £2.5K cheaper! - maybe someone can persuade micronet to comment on this forum ? - sales@micronetshowroom.com.

WR-one

How can they have availability? The only way they can have cars available is to have pre-ordered cars from the first 300 batch from several dealers. However, you can't order without a driving licence copy.

Has anyone posted the thread to them?

Cany you elaborate on this a little? I remember this thread in other marques some time ago. Did they advertise the Clio V6 for 22K and then turn around and say, sorry.....we can't really do it for that price? If so, what's the point in advertising it?

Cheers

It's about time the UK Dealer/IM got fined for this nonsense.

Stefan

I wouldnt agree with that m8, i tried to get work done under warranty in germany and they speiled me off some blab about subaru germany and subaru uk being different companys. If you can do it i would like some info so i can claim back ferry tickets and fuel.

I hope your right oz.

Let me know,

Stefan's correct Aston. If your car was registered in the EU, the way it works is that Subaru Germany do the work, and claim the cost back off Subaru UK. Co-operative agreement or whatever it's called.

Suggest you have a word with the German arm, as if you've been forced to bring your car back to the UK just to have warranty remedial work carried out, you may well have some sort of claim for the costs involved.

This was the warranty situation back in '99. I don't know if it's changed.

The 3 years warranty is made up of a 1 year warranty from Subaru international + a further 2 years from Subaru UK. Therefore, the 1 year warranty would be honoured in Europe, but the additional 2 years is from Subaru UK only & is only honoured by Subaru UK approved dealers.

Autoebid has WR-1s for £27352 - UK car UK spec, delivered to your door. Only extra is Autoebid's fee (see website for details). The price quoted is the maximum you will pay, if you put it up for auction and get dealers to bid, you could find it even cheaper.

If that is the case there would appear to be a breach of trades descriptions, or at the very least false advertising. Either Micronet have a lot of ***** (or a healthy legal defence fund) or IM might be on slightly thin ice.

There's a company near me that's selling the "Ice Blue" Sti with the Diff control for £22995.00 There from Malta. The salesman told me there not allowed to sell them till May 1st. You then get the 3 yr Subaru warranty. Mind you he also said you could get a PPP fitted as well. It has the orginal 17" wheels in grey and none of the grills, fog lights etc, "it's the basic car before it goes to Prodrive. Wonder what it would cost to make it into a WR1. You would loose the "warranty" but you could get the ecu re-mapped put in a performance exhaust and buy the rest of the bits from prodrives parts bin through any Subaru dealer.

Autoebid has a general description which can cover more than one model. The difference is here you are purchasing from a UK dealer with a UK supplied car. If you want to go through the bid process, it will be UK main agent dealers who will be replying.

Subaru are making 1000 Ice Blue STi's of which 500 will be turned into the WR1 with performance upgrades by Prodrive and the remaining 500 will be sold in Europe as the Petter Solberg Ltd. I guess these are the low cost models that are starting to appear under the WR1 banner

Well that's the thing that doesn't quite make sense Liam. As you say there are "another" 500 ice blue/DCCD/265ps/17" base cars being sold in Europe. The thing that doesn't then tally is Scoobay's note from IM about the cars not having DCCD.

GM In your infinite wisdom how much would it cost to turn a "Petter" into a WR1? Disregrading the warranty!

Er, it's not possible to turn one of those cars into a WR1 compshack, as the WR1 comes with features (unique ECU map, styling cues, and of course, the name) that can only be obtained by buying a WR1.

If you wanted to turn a "Petter" into some sort of WR1 facsimile, you'd be looking at Prodrive springs, PFF7 wheels plus tyres to fit, grilles, and a remap of some sort. I'm an information source, not a price list, so the rest of the legwork you'll have to do yourself.

The one that I saw yesterday wasn't. It looked the dogs but without the 18" wheels, grills and fogs.

compshack - there should be another 200 WR1's held back over and above the initial dealer allocation of 300. I daresay if you phoned International Motors they'd probably be able to tell you the name of a dealer that may have one of the intial 300 available, as we've seen stories here lately of folk cancelling, but either way there shouldn't be an issue if you want one.
