I have lived here all my life too, and to be honest from what I have seen of other towns, I think I'll stay.

I am sorry you feel that way Craig.

Corby might well be a stinking sh1thole populated by thieves, thugs and low rent neds but it does have a trouser press named after it. How many other places can claim that?

Not your fault - you're one of the few friendlies, maybe it's just where we are. Luckily it's rental and we'll be out in 4 months. Still in Northampton though, and new place is surrounded by speedhumps - haven't sussed how the westie will get down there yet.....

Want a nice way of life...............????

.......Move abroad.

England has lost its Englishness and standards are minimal. Its embarassing.

No class, no culture. Funny that because 60 years ago England had a stiff upper lip and was proud of its standards. Amazing how things change.

Though, compared to many places, Northampton is not bad at all.

My son and his family live there and they find it ok. Its like any town, good and bad bits. Lots of nice surrounding villages, I like the shops, bit different to the usual boring malls all over the place these days.

If you like chavs, traffic jams and crap nightlife then northhampton and it's environs are great, kind of like Slough without all the charisma.

Had any good bottles of Chateaubriand recently BTW, popeye/shrek?

Everywhere has its good and bad places, I happen to live in what I would call the better part - i.e. 500 metres from Northamptonshire. From my house I can cycle for 5 minutes and be in the Althorp estate.

Have been out in the town centre on a number of occasions and have had no trouble having a good time. We have loads of restaurants and bars which open late - Revolution being my favourite bar.

My cousin came up from Kempshott and said that Basingstoke was rubbish for nights out. She thought Northampton was great. Prepared for the **** take BTW, so don't bother!

As long as you know where not to live, it's a great place. I have lived all over the place and here is where I've settled. I grew up in Essex where it's all about what car you drive or what clothes you wear (chav!), so even though Northampton isn't great in every respect, it's better than alot of places in many respects...

One disappointment is the amount of taxis available after 12 midnight in town - shocking how long you have to wait!!!!
