Hoppy how can you put a bigger disk on for the Prodrive brake conversion when you don't change the calipers or add brackets to move the calipers away from the strut body ????

Yes there are several "Prodrive conversions " starting with upgrading the disk (Standard size) and pad material which was the one I was talking about up to the big brake conversions like the six pot Alcon conversions. The DS 2000 pads were only fitted as a Prodrive brake conversion recently as they use to use Mintex and I still think Mintex are the best you can buy.

Hi Darren. The Prodrive upgraded discs are 294mm, standard discs are 292mm. Okay, not much in it ! They are exclusive to Prodrive, of superior material, and grooved. They are not made by Subaru and an educated guess would be that they come from Alcon.

Has anyone tried these discs? How do they measure up?

Prodrive changed from Mintex pads to Ferodo about a year ago as I recall. Prodrive's Mike Wood made a post on here explaining why, basically saying they were better in a number of areas. And, officially you can only obtain Ferodo DS2000 pads to fit Impreza brakes from Prodrive, via your official UK dealer. It may be possible to get them via another route, but they will have been sourced overseas and imported.

The only other Prodrive brake upgrade is the full Monty 330mm Alcon discs and alloy 4-pot calipers, plus DS2000 pads. You need 17in wheels to get them on. There's another thread on here raving about them.

Richard.

TSL motorsport get their DS2000 direct from ferrodo. Call them and chat to them if you like, Graham is a genuine enthusiast and can explain the ins and outs of brake upgrades much better than I can, from pad material and disc material to the science behind the materials.

Cool

Thanks for all the help guys. Looks like it's time to start saving - I can't afford a full kit now, so maybe I should just wait. But, maybe a few hundred quid now, and a full upgrade in a year or so Decisions, decisions.

Matt
