Just to prove this isn't a wind up he is due in court tomorrow. It has been late for some reason.

He has been charged with only two offences.
1.Drink Driving
2. Leaving the scene of an accident

I did Jury Duty and some bloke knocked over 3 lads on a quiet country road whilst all of them were drunk (inc. the driver). He never reported the accident and had no insurance.

All he got was a 3 yr driving ban and a big fine, which he could pay about £1.50 per week for the next 5 years

I'd put money on the same. Driving ban + fine.

Where, precisely, is "rallying country" exactly? It sounds like you're talking about the wild west or something. I bet all the real rally drivers (assuming there are any) around you wish wannabes like you and your "mate" would p*ss off elsewhere, as I imagine you're giving the rest of them a bad rep by associating reckless, lawless behaviour like this with them.

I'm from a country area I know exactly what the country side is about and I know people who drink and drive regularly and they are all complete w@nkers! Living in the country is no excuse for drink driving. We would often walk 5 miles to the pub or someone would just not drink. Its really not that hard whether you live in the country or a city.

No matter where you live, if you drink and drive your a complete To$$er!

As someone originally from "rally country" and as someone who has
1) ended up in hospital because of a drunk driver
2) had a parked car trashed by a drunk driver who didn't stop

I think your friend is a dangerous idiot and it's a shame they weren't given a short custodial sentence to think about the consequences of their actions.
