The fact that Douglas Bader called his dog ****** proves nothing about the derogatory nature of the word. It merely highlights the point that people were more comfortable using the word (a point which, as far as i recall, no one was actually debating).

as i already stated, public acceptability doesnt make something right.

Just as a point of fact....

It was Guy Gibson's dog. he was commander of 617 Squadron for the Dams raid. The dog was a black labrador (hence the name I'm guessing). The dog was run over just before the raid - and Gibson used the dog name as the codeword to signal the successful breach of one of the Dams.

All of which was depicted in the Dambusters film - then edited out the last time it was shown. Something I find inexplicable - you simply cant re-write historical fact 50 years later beacuse the word used then has some pretty nasty baggage now.

Back to the main subject

Ron - Racist ? No. Stupid ? Yes. The word is unacceptable now, but I dont believe he used it with malice about his ethnic origin.

One thing that Nacro proved beyond all doubt is that that when someone has to resort to name calling and the use of obscene language then it shows how weak his argument really is. It does the very opposite of accentuating the point of course-if there is one there!

I used to be a fan of Ron and was really shocked to hear his comments. I still believed that he was not really a racist but it seems Ian Wright has had a different experience with Ron.

I think in a way, being called "n*gger" or "p@ki" by a white person (to black/asian respectively), and taking huge offence, is acknowledging that a deep-rooted underlying hatred exists between the two groups.

"P@ki" is the obvious shortening for "Pakistani", just like "Brit" is for "British". Theres no reason why the terms should be so offensive, and if people from these groups call each other by these terms (as it seems they do) then no offence is taken.

LOL at "angry-teenager" comments from Narco, how old are you BTW?!!

I didn't know P@ki was the obvious shortening for Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan or anyone else brown?

Let's be straight, when someone uses those terms they mean to denigrate that person.
