Where exactly did the drink drive theory come from.

If you aren't insured your a kn#b for driving so take the punishment, that's life for ya.

We're also missing the point that the girlfriend could have been reported for PERMITTING Mr Flex for driving without insurance too
Could've been but i got her in the clear. No point us both getting screwed for my stupidity

I'm amazed at the whiter than white saints on Scoobynet!

Yes it was silly, no you haven't got a decent excuse, yes it could be very serious if an accident had occured but you took the risk and were unlucky enough to get caught.

I'm not going to preach as I'll admit I've done something similar in the past.

Before you criticise, think long and hard as to whether you have ever driven when the mot and / or tax had run out and you hadnt realised.. if you have ever bumped a car off for someone.. or what you did back in your younger days..

NEVER done it ive always had them money to tax it mot it AND GET A TAXI HOME it's just common sense

but wot do exspected for under 25s these days (not all of them)most!!

I think its good to see so many people having no simpathy at this incident, it just shows the maturity of the majority of dudes on here.

or would you prefer posts like:-

Sorry to hear that mate, don't worry when they ban you can still drive your car without any insurance, remember the money you save can be spent on petrol and booze. Dont let the filthy rozzers grind you down.

Still shaking my head at this.. or are the only people that are replying (look at Read Count) the people that agree... is it that no one dares offer sympathy?

Well put it this way I know how he feels having to lose a car he loves due to getting caught doing something he shouldn't have.

Long story short - went out with GF and her friends, one of the lads known for being a pyshco and worse when drunk decided to kick nine bells out of me. I paniced after finally getting up off the floor and ran to my car and drove home in pride and joy Nissan GTIR. Neighbour calls police and my attacker tells them I'm drunk and driving and misses out bit about good beating.

Judge couldn't give a stuff that I was battered to **** and although my attacker got charged with assault I got banned for 12 months.

So yeah, you've done something in hindsight you shouldn't have and yeah you are going to pay for it. Taken me 4 years to sort myself out with a nice car and all down to asking some w$nker to stop screaming swear words at his misses.

it's a shame if you have to sell your car, particularly as you clearly thought you were doing the right thing by not letting your girlfriend drive.
I think the lynch mob would be justified if you had come on here bemoaning your fate, but seeing as your initial post is really only saying "I've been a bit daft, got caught and can no longer insure my car" I would say there has been a bit of an over-reaction. Still, this is scoobynet, so to be expected
I just hope your girlfriend realizes what a mess she has landed you in.
All the best

sympathy for what ?? being a d**khead for driving without insurance ? let's see if you say that after a non-insured driver ploughs into your car !!

well personally id rather they were uninsured than pissed, at least then it may be a genuine mistake..

Im just fed up of this high and mighty attitude on here, as quite frankly it smells of bull ****e to me..

I dont believe you all 'do' as you say and never do anything wrong..

see 'how fast have you been in your scooby thread' for an example..

165mph in a 70mph when insured or 30mph in a 40 uninsured??

Who's more likely to need a bigger payout.. (and dont say me hitting the 30mph in a 40)

Having been hit by an uninsured driver, I can assure you that it isn't much fun at all.

Of course we've all done something naughty at times, but that isn't an excuse for this. Get insured or stay off the road.

You're digging yourself in deeper, Big Flex..... Insuring yourself on your mothers Insurance when you are, in fact, the main driver might well be interpreted as fraudulent..... I'd steal away quietly if I were you.

Totally agree.

I'm suprised no one's mentioned bringing back capital punishment yet....but hey, that would be a little over the top

I've done it too - although I was lucky to only get 6 points.

I've paid the price, just like this young chap has done.

We all make mistakes in life FFS!

The best we can do is learn from them....................

You could always sell the car and start racing motocross

here's 1 for you then (uninsured, not tax no mot)

was driving my wagon (38ton) on the A1/M18 octorber 1996 southbound 5am
i was doing 56mph, so the car on the hard shoulder, as soon as i got to the car he pulled out on me (10/15ft) i hit the car that hard it put the number plate on the back of the front seats (ford escort) ran over to the car now in the middle of the carrageway, had a look in it and there was (WAS)2 people in the back(BITS),it took them 8 hours to open the A1.to cut a long story short,

It turns out the driver of the car was banned from driving,no mot.no tax,no insurance he gets out of jail in 2 more years

BY THE WAY IT WAS HIS FAMILY IN THE BACK OF THE CAR

SO DONT TELL ME I DONT HAVE THE RIGHT TO RANT AT THIS 1

Si, that sounds horrible mate!

However, it really has nothing to do with this thread - It didn't really matter if he was insured or not did it......he just made a VERY bad mistake.

At least the guy who posted this thread can learn from his mistake, unlike the poor guy and family who pulled out in front of you.

If you drive without insurance - you deserve everything coming your way. Every year, since buying my first car (some 12 years now), I phone around at renewal time, and guess what - my premium has gone up. Never had an accident, member of the I.A.M, and it's idiots that don't pay up that make honest punters like me have to pay more.

Muppets. As for the argument about making mistakes - if in doubt, don't drive it. Get a taxi.

My cousin (two years my junior) had a head on collision when driving without insurance (my cousin was on the wrong side of the road, taking a right hand bend). No fatalities - luckily. But the poor woman driving the other car would have a) gone through a whole load of trauma, b) had to replace her car, c) [possibly] lost her no-claims, and d) had to pay more for her next year's insurance. My cousin lost his licence, and guess what, carried on driving anyway. This time, with no licence, insurance, or road tax. ****.

At the end of the day, you guys disapproving means jack really, as it's done now. Admittedly, I'm ashamed of what i did. I always said that people with no insurance were *****, and i am now one of them. A genuine mistake was made, and i'm being punished enough by having to sell my baby, and nothing anyone of you can moan at me about is gonna make me feel any worse than i already do.

Bigflex... bet you wont ever do that again eh?

Bet yer gutted about the motor m8. Just before everyone dives on this, Im not condoning the act of uninsured driving. But whatever the circumstances, Im sure non of us would like to have to sell our pride and joy!
