I had a 200SX before the scooby, good fun rear wheel drive car! What power if you want to say? Could be fun!

Around 300BHP/lbft, on standard size 205/55x16 uniroyal tyres.
Zero traction compared to my previous STi5 RA on 225/35x18 SO2PP's. Good fun though.

Peccy/chrisT.O.T.B,

i have a slight issue. finally accepted defeat over a minor infringement of the law and having the licence endorsed (3pts). unfortunately it was a paper licence and i will no doubt be asked to provide a photo for the replacement one.

obviously this may take a little time to sort and we are approaching the Shootout rapidly. what would you suggest in this scenario??? i could just bring the paperwork which would prove i have a licence in existence and am just upgrading it. is their any other way around possibly not having the new one on the day?

any advice would be useful, else its £40 down the pan!

cheers,

Kev

John - God I never thought of that 341bhp & 348lb/ft could prove interesting on traction if it rains. I have slightly wider 17's but that'll make bugger all difference LOL

It'd be funny to see some RWD snaking up the strip PMSL

Maffa, that power wont be a problem for traction at Elvington, even if it rains, trust me on that one.

Surprising how many people recorded better times throughtout last year at Elvington when it rained. You have to be fairly brutal to make the scoob wheelspin at Elvington, even with that power.

Trout wasnt even getting wheelspin on sunday, albeit it was 24degrees, but he has well over 500bhp and torque.

I think i can count on one hand the number of times i have "felt" wheelspin at Elvington in nearly 100 runs. They were all in the wet (pouring rain), but the wheelspin was not significant. Every one of those Wet runs, proved to be my best time upto that point in the day.

The scoobs should be fine in the wet, i'll just sit there going nowhere though. Probably will in the dry too.

When I ran my Pork I was getting wheelspin at anything above 1,800rpm....mind you that is over 170lbs ft just through the rear wheels!

not a problem, as showing your license isnt the main requirement, just proof of id if not.
however a valid car is reqd, so as long as you are in a road legal car, ie tax valid, in mot , and you have insurance cover for road use, then you are fine.
we will have a scrutineer checking all cars thro the day, anyone using full slicks will be disqualified, i'm sure also other competitors will let us know if they see anyone not on road legal dot/e marked tyres at any point.

Please dont forget your helmets also, you wont be allowed to run without one, beg ,steal or borrow one if need be. (well dont nick one tho!)

final shout for any new entrants, the 19th may is the day your chqs must be in to get entry at £40 all in as a pre paid entrant. the list closes for all pre payment this weekend!

any remaining places left will be given on a first come basis on the day, from 9am onwards at sign on, but it will cost you £45 total(incl your entry ticket fee of £10) so pre pay now if you can. once any spare places are gone, thats it, no more cars will be signed on.

MOT?
Insurance?
License?
Tax disk?
Helmet?
Tyres at over 1.6mm tread?

Question

you might have missed this question before chris. If you arent in a subaru (not in the competition) do you still have to use E marked tyres?

hi john
we do have a trophy for the fastest invite car of the day, so if you want to have a go at that yes it needs to be on the road legal tyres. if its just for your own times etc, as its not in the main comp its not a real problem.

all the scoobys entered should comply, ie have a valid tax disc on display, road legal tyres as above, be in safe road legal trim to pass the safety inspection, and be in valid MOT.

Drivers must have a helmet or you wont be able to run, and you may need a license for id purposes as the signed on driver will be the only person able to compete on the day.

Question 1: my car isn't taxed ATM and will be taxed for the 1st June, is this a problem? i'm going to have to risk it for a day to get there (new tax disc will be displayed)

Question 2: road legal - does this mean it has to be road silenced?

Thanks Chris. I'll bring 2 sets of rears then and see if some tarmac rally tyres give better traction out of curiosity. Doubt i could beat an EVO on a 1/4 mile run. If its close (yeh right) i'll stick the legal stuff on.

taxed ideally please as this is part of being road legal, i think 1 day wont matter tho. as long as you have mot and id etc.

noise limit at elvington is 105db officially, but i havent heard of any sound tests being done there, altho there is a strict cut off time for close of fun!

If it rains John I'll also be going nowhere fast

If so maybe we could have a competition to see who takes the longest to get traction

If your car is delivering 424 then should have a quick impreza. Rear diffs havent been a problem for most people at that level.
