Cem

How does it compare to the GTR (that was a very special car) - not that I'm saying the GT3 RS isn't - bacause it truly is.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the 2 of them.

Cheers

Terry

For the first time ever yesterday I saw 2 911's absolutely hammering it - an awesome sight, if your RS sounds as good it will be amazing

Thanks all....I was a bit worried that by getting into a Porsche, I'd feel the hostilities immediately, but I've had nothing but approving nods, grins and flattering offers from the opposite sex (!!).

911's sound very good in general. GT3RS is just a delight and sounds just as good from inside as it does from the outside.

GTR v GT3RS?
Chalk and cheese, really it is. One thing I did notice when stepping into my GTR after the GT3 was the wooly steering. There was no feedback in comparison to the Porsche and it felt almost lofty.
I'm also going to regret saying this, but despite my recent arguements with someone about the failings of the GTR (forced induction v NA), I have to say that NA is the way forward - at least for now Any gear, any revs and there's a delightfully reassuring push into the seat. Takes a little getting used to, but once you understand the available power, the gearbox suddenly becomes a lot more flexible. And the fact that it revs to 8200rpm means you can keep it in 3rd all day.

GTR serves a completely different purpose. Many people may disagree with me, but I see the GTR as an autobahn stormer. It was meant to demolish continents in afternoons. And it does this with absolute ease. It's not very economical, nor is it aerodynamic so it's top speed is hard reached and fuel stops become real common. But it gets you from the Nurburgring to Calais in 4 hours. You can sit on the autobahn at 160MPH with total ease AND hold a conversation.

But the RS is weekend playtool. 2 seats. Roll cage. Fire extinguisher. Harness.
Comfort, it is not. Practical, it is not. Sensible, it is not.

But what it is, is the most accomplished, functional and purest form of motoring I've experienced.

Lovely car Cem you never fail to impress do you?

It kinda looks funny parked (on what I assume is your street) with the other run of the mill shopping cars!

Do I assume the plate came with the car? Cant understand what it means myself, guessing well be seeing the old plate on it.

P.S Please take it to supercar sunday so I can come and have a look

Fantastic!

I just can't help thinking it looks a bit odd parked in suburbia like that... You'd best emigrate to Monaco, Monsieur!

Look forward to seeing you on track, and waving you past my p*key 200SX track car.

Great Choice Cem!

I have done some filming with one of these beasts recently and it was just incredible. Looks, sounds, performance and quality, it has it all.

I particularly like the reto style graphics down the sides.

A future classic if ever there was one.

It's a gorgeous car but I suppose I'm gonna have to stick myself in a minority of one and say I prefer the black car...

Whatever, you're a jammy git and I'm jealous

Cem, you lucky git

I prefer the black stealth approach, but I also love the white. Only thing I'm not sure about is the red wheels and lettering, but I guess it does pay homage to it's predecessor.

I wouldn't mind either.

Stefan

P.S. Did I forget to mention you're a lucky git

Whats the monthly cost to own/run something like that in general? Not prying, just always wondered.

Thanks all again.
You're absolutely right, I'm very lucky. I really shouldn't be buying toys like this because I really can't afford it but when you're faced with such an incredible opportunity to own and drive one of these, all forms of logic and reason evaporate.
B10WDG will be on soon, just need to get my V5 back. Anyone wanna buy the current plate?

Richard,
I will definately be there this year, it's an event I never miss now - really is a highlight of the year. It coincides with Le Mans weekend this year, so all the police will (hopefully) be monitoring the 'other' roads!

DW,
Not really sure mate. I'm positive about one thing though, it's a damn sight cheaper to run than my GTR. Almost twice the MPG (30 if you're real good!), servicing every 12,000 miles, or 12 months (about £600) instead of every 2000 miles for the GTR. But most importantly, a rock solid warranty which protects you from any failing - something an imported car can never give you.

All in all, despite a higher original outlay, the car is costing me a fraction to run compared with the GTR. Bear in mind also fantastic residuals and you've got quality motoring at minimal loss.
