Slowboy, sorry, can't comment on the PFF7s, cos I'm not sure what they look like......can you describe them or post pics? Andykidman, yeah, I considered the vortex as well ( look great on yours, btw ), just kind of decided that mica red paintwork and gold alloys compliment each other. Just got the skirts back on today ( had 'em painted ), even more eager for new alloys now.

Talking No Doubt About it!!

The following are without doubt the best wheels to have on a red mica scooby IMHO

18" volk racing LE-37Ts as below,

O.K, sorted. Rang Cheam Motors, mentioned the magic words, £590, do we have a deal?, got the right answer! glen4, should we ever meet, that's a drink you're owed, thanks for your help, and everyone else who's contributed. Btw, that's for 4 17" PD7s in gold, £610 all in with delivery to Southampton. Four goodyear GSD3s to start worrying about now, never bloody stops, does it? While I'm on the subject, for anyone else who's changed from 16s to 17s, do you run the same tyre pressures?

Good choice Micared - sounds like you got a good deal there. Post up some pics when you have them fitted

As for tyre pressures well I have Pirelli P-Zeros on mine (205/45/17) and I run 34 front 32 rear

Nelson, cheers, you might get to see the car in the metal, I'm tempted to pop round to your place and make off with your rear spoiler! Seriously, I'd love to post some pics, but unfortunately don't have a digi camera, ( or the i.q. to know how to use one ). My other half's just found out about these alloys and gone ballistic, ( bloody car, more money than sense, what's wrong with the wheels that's on it, etc, etc, you know the score, ) she thinks it's bad now, wait 'til she finds out I've still got to buy the tyres!! Oh well, always in the ****, just the depth that varies!

Other halves were put on this world to give us a hard time over how much we go on about and spend on our cars......... Par for the course mate. I have yet to tell my wife the sum of money I want to spend in the coming month or so

at the end of the day your Scoob will look great and your other half will calm down

Yeah, if the car looks great, and she doesn't calm down, well, 50% success rate, can't win 'em all! Wouldn't mind really, except that when I want something for the scoob, I usually do weekend work to cover it.......just haven't got around to doing the weekend work that's going to pay for this lot yet. How do you find the pirellis, Nelson? Read good and bad things on here about them, so it's hard to know what to think.

Ummmm - well the Pirellis are for me ok...nothing special. They were on the car when I bought it but I won't be going for them again. The grip level isn't bad in the dry and in the wet but for me the tyres give off a lot of annoying road noise too! I think I will go for eitehr Toyo next time as I had these on my previous Scoob and they were good or maybe try the Goodyears that everyone raves about on here

I've got the pre-GSD3 goodyears on the standard 16s, and I find them noisy as well , tbh. Reason I ask is that I'd like to fit 45 series tyres ideally, for ride comfort purposes, but, from what I've read on here, the choice is limited, and doesn't include goodyears. What were your experiences with the toyos? I'm trying to avoid a tyre that makes the car tramline, and retains the general stability of the goodyears.

Micared
glad to hear you got the deal good choice BTW, good years are the way to go, I have 215/40 and haven't noticed a great deterioration in ride quality, just a marked improvement in turn in
May hold you to that drink, you're only just up the road from me

i paid the same price for a set of 4 (£665 for 4 PD7s in gold) for my old classic MY99 DBM about 2 years ago, i got mine from performancesubaru ireland.
a very good service and i got them posted within the week.
at the time i went for 4 toyo's T1S from scoobyworld and had them fitted at wheelmania for £5 a corner.
they did recomend larger studs tho. (£20 a set)
hope this helps

Hi scoobyBLUE, when you say larger wheel studs, do you mean longer? That's the first time I've heard anyone mention that, tbh. What did you think about the toyos, any better/worse than anything else you've tried?

if anything they were just fatter (head) as the originals were too small and would have dug in after a while?
i didnt think the toyos were all that bad really, but others have said they arnt keen, but then again i had avons on b4 so anything else from them was a bonus!
if you want pics of my old classic i can email if like? i did have eibacks springs as well and the PD7's set it off really well i thought

go for it

Well, bolloxed to know what to think now.....4 PD7s turned up today and they are somewhat different in appearance to others I've seen. Lighter shade of gold for starters, and not for the better, imo, silver centrecap (still with prodrive on ), and no bloody prodrive logo on the spoke, which was one of the things that helped make up my mind. Annoyed, because I asked specific questions about exactly this when I ordered them. I sense a question/ answer session coming up with supplier tomorrow. Anyone else recently bought these and had the same issues?
