with my mods i should be getting closer to 350 than 300
not without fmic and fuel additives

poor show m8. if i were you i'd be gettin rid of the gem's just like i feel about me car.
I might be interested in the gems if you really feel that way. after driving a gems car today I am very impressed by the off boost response and whole package.

but i should get more than that! not even 300?! my ar$e!!!! that's 30 brake and 20 torque more than when i just had the decat, dawes, filter and an up-pipe fitted!!!!!!
try not to get too worked up on peak figures and ask yourself how the car feels to drive. you can crudely bang up boost with dawes but you loose the part throttle and under hard use the ignition will soon show a sparkly knocklink. if you want to compare peaks trty and compare with other cars on the day rather than what you think is right.

can't agree with you more john, but what happens if i got headers, fmic and injectors? do i get up to 360 and that's it? it's hardly worth doing it if i can't even prove it to myself let alone someone asking what power it produces?

i was only saying about the gem's as the hassle that johnny's been through so far and what scoty went through, i don't like the idea of such a so called good ecu has these problems. i know nothing in the world is perfect, but from what i've heard(yes, not personal trials) it should do better?

the only two guys I think who have got over 350bhp at star with a td05fe are andyf and john banks , both used additives.

my car is mapped on plain optimax and seems stuck around 340bhp. delta dash dyno shown no gain with boost over 5500rpm. mapping in additives would see an increase but I prefer to use additives as a safety net nothing more.

although the peaks are lower I still like a well set up vf28 with top mount

again, gotta agree with you there john. i would prefer to use no additives, but possibly would have gone for another run later on with additives just to get a comparison in figures, but now i'm not sure. lol

don't suppose you know where the hybrid's in harvey's gb came from do you? don't like the idea of another remap mind you, as it was never my intention

Exclamation 'ello folks ..

Just in the door.. Thanks again to John for organising this ..

My 03 WRX PPP : Power ..253 bhp , 246 lbs/ft torque . ( Must be 'cause it's a wagon )

I feel it should be more than this but ( dare I say it ) don't trust the RR . This is the 2nd time I've RR it at Star and AGAIN it is lower than what I expected ( though this time + 9bhp !! WOW !!)

Although my result was not what I expected , the car does feel really good and think the figures dont give justice to what it IS pushing out . Dave ( drb5) , I wouldn't altogether trust the rollers , as I too feel the results are not quite right .. maybe put your name down for the Dastek RR coming up .. I feel this will be the proof .

Was good to see everybody again and meet a few new faces .

Took some pics .. coming up ...

Steve

drb5, I have the exact same problem on my car it seems to be neigh on impossible to get a decent figure on a RR unless you run a FMIC. You will get higher figures at Dastek as the cooling is a lot better, but my intake temps still went through the roof there (just hung on longer before going to pot). I'm going to be running WI once my car is back together to see if this gets around it - if not you can have another car to burn to the ground

280bhp proven at Star (310 proven at Dastek), 330-340bhp on the road. Only advantage is when the insurance company ask what peformance increase your mods give you can explain than 5-10k of mods has given 25bhp and out of pity they don't increase the premium.

As always - nothing against Star and I will be back there as I'm determined to get a decent figure there eventually, just the setup requires cars to have much better cooling than they require on the road.

drb5, Stevo WRX

But you both run top mounts. It was a hot day and you can confirm for me, but i believe the only cooling fan used was the one in front of the car and not the other one that's there that Star use for the top mounts?
Bear in mind Jim can't hold the fan and drive the car at the same time......

thanks robertio. makes me feel a bit better when other peeps are in the same boat, alhough it still doesn't help, if you know what i mean. i didnt want to see an fmic going on my car, but by the looks of it, if i want to see some good figures down on paper, it's the only way....

john banks read lower at dastek.

I still think same day comparisons with known specs are the best way rather than building eveything around peak figures from different days/ rollers.

people with tmic will always find things harder but comparing with other tmic/similar spec cars , is all that can be done.

I know exactly what you mean I've never had a good RR day in any car and always feel like just selling the thing afterwards (as I'm sure Kev feels at the moment as well - sorry to hear your figures as well mate, can't say I'm surprised though - as you said yourself it isn't holding boost top end, and unless it's doing that peak bhp isn't going to be good).

I can see 2 options:
* You try to use reverse psychology on yourself and try to create the first 300bhp 11 second 1/4 scoob
* Run the intercooler differently on RR days, can't remember what sort of pipework you had on yours, but if you got some made up that would allow your intercooler to be run front facing you could put that on at the rollers in place of your stock stuff, then switch back to normal for the drive home.

First time on a RR ( did it show ???).Un modded MY02 STI PPP - 273bhp & 256ft of torque.
More than happy with it.... there is always that nagging doubt with a second hand car. Exhaust and a dawes device after the holiday

Big thanks to John for organising and to Jim. Also Kev for roping them down and spraying the IC's.

Driver of the day - Spooks for roasting the Evo at the Kincardine Br, second place to Wrxmania for stalling on the rollers.

I get third for nearly hitting the stantion on the ramps

Good to meet some faces before the 6th of June, and put more names and cars to the aliases.

Yes - in black with Ralliart stickers. I think you frightened him a bit... maybe he had the window down and you deafened him with that decat

Seemd to pull away well then we just ran him down

You must be pleased with + 40 brake ?
