If you have a friend that does off roading, or has a "proprer" 4x4 which they aren't too worried about scuffing the front bumper/bull bar......
Get them round and "nudge" it down the road.
Ahh those fond memories of using my nissan sunny as a tool for straightening my Land Rover's bumper come flooding back

LOL at all replies.
Its nice when people can see things from your point of view. It has been very frustrating. And thanks for the direct offers of help etc. Would have been very amusing to see a bunch of Scoobynetters turn up outside the house and start bouncing this car away.
So guess what happened...?
Yesterday - Saturday afternoon, I was indoors and heard an unfamiliar car alarm outside the house, rush out to see a man in the car, trying to start it up.
I go up to him and ask him whats going on, he starts apologising and says that his Wife ran out of fuel outside our house while visiting her sister across the road and he was unable to come before, due to 'work' and only now had the chance to come and move it.
His 'Wife' was in another vehicle across the road shouting her own apologies.
I asked him about the lack of tax disc and the state of the car (ie looked dumped) and he says that she took it out to stop the car getting stolen, apparently it had happened before, oh and the state of the car was due to the way she drives it (because she is a woman)
Now I try my best not to be judgemental, but I know the people across the road happen to be of the 'tinkering' fraternity, and this chap I was talking to had an identical accent to the people across the road. The point is should I be surprised that he is driving around an untaxed car and produced what were, in my opinion, very practised answers about his tax disc etc?
I mean, she can't remember to put fuel in the car but remembers to take out the tax disc to stop it getting stolen! How far would they have got in a car without fuel anyway??
Needless to say I just shook my head and walked away thinking I was just glad that they were going. I have reported the matter and was told they weren't interested etc, so what else can I do?
This place is crazy, only a couple of weeks ago I was almost rammed by an untaxed, unMOT'd, out of control car, almost outside my house too. They hit another car, onlu missed me by a whisker, crashed into the traffic lights, then both got out and ran down the road.
Don't care what anyone the Govt says, illegal car drivers are around aplenty, whereas people like me are terrified of being a couple of days late with a tax disc.
Annoys me really!

The same thing happened to me last year, some tatty old astra, after checking with the neighbours phoned plod who unbelievably said they traced the owner but couldnt call him as he was ex-dir. WTF!!!! even though it had no tax they were simply not interested, called the council they came and put a notice on saying if not collected in 48hrs then would be towed, it was and it didnt cost me anything!
