Scottish National Day - 20th June - Alford, Aberdeenshire

I used to live out Strathdon and I can tell you that there are some superb roads for a blast but you have to be careful for tractors and cyclists etc.
I know the humpy that mike is talking about and you have to make sure there is nothing coming the other way.
The series of hairpins at Kildrummy Den are worth a shot. They are between Mossat and Glenkindie which is about 6 miles from Alford.
if you want a good view then a drive to the top of Suie Hill just north of Alford gives you a view over West Gordon.
However the Aberdeenshire police set up mobile speed traps on the Aberdeen-Alford road when there are events on at Alford. So be careful if you are coming that way.

The day kicks off at about 10am, though there will be people on-site from about 8am (and even the night before) getting everything set-up.
We'd like all the cars to be on-site by about 10:30am if possible, otherwise there's a chance it will get too crowded to let people in and out easily, and cars arriving later may well have to park outside in the public car park, or wait for a suitable gap to get in. In this case, I would suggest leaving the park and ride no later than about 9:45am.
Mike - I'm hoping we'll have a good turn out of Seat's as well that you've arranged
We've got Town and County coming along with some Subaru/Lotus/Seat display/demo cars as well.
We'll also be using proper timing equipment on the track as well, so no hand-held stopwatch irregularities
It's shaping up to be a really fantastic day out, which will be really well attended. Certainly not one to be missed.

Right then Aberdeen peeps.
Kingswells Park and Ride. Leave there at 9am. Is this a good time for everyone?
Also, my Type R might still be a it poorly so I won't take her up. Any chance of a lift with someone. Don't want to miss this event. I stay in Aberdeen City Center, west end.

Anyone can pay their £5 and go on track Places will be limited, so best advice is to turn up early if you want to go on track, as they'll be allocated on a first-come first servd basis.

Earlier tonight in the pub I was press ganged into dragging out a Lotus-Seven-alike kit car on Sunday with the Jag.
Now just to swop Sunday as I'm supposed to be oncall

Everyone is more than welcome, and we're looking forward to having a fantastic line-up of Imprezas
Everyone is more than welcome to give their car a try on track as well - only £5 for as many goes as you can fit in - please remember that you'll be the only car on the track, as it's one person at a time.
Inverness - I'm not sure if Jacqui is coming down or not - perhaps the night before.
I know there's lots of people coming from Dundee as well, and a few from Edinburgh (few coming up overnight), so it should be a fantastic day out.

I'm very sad reading this... used to own a Scoob, used to live near Alford and used to work at the Museum - happy days.
For those of you who haven't been to Alford before, on the A944 from Aberdeen, look out for the daft old bint Eileen McLeod in Whitehouse, it's a 40 limit and she's a human speed trap. You can't miss her, high viz vest, purple hair, 1 black shoe and 1 white shoe normally. She doesn't have any high tech equipment, but she can hear you speeding???
Hope you all have a great time, and the sun shines for you.
Mike.

Hello Miss Scooby Sti,
Yes i will give you a shout if i am going. I was speaking to the boys the other day and halowrx has just sold his car and GeeWR1 was not sure but i have to give him a phone. I am sure he will be going as its a good run for him to run the wr1 in.
I think i saw you last week over by B&Q in a black STI. Was it you? Whats happening in Fort william? What time are you leaving on Sunday? And where from? Cheers Gary

Mike.
She was quoted in the Daily Record once as saying she "caught" someone doing 80mph ROUND THE BEND in whitehouse - yes, that 90 degree bend with a concrete wall at the outside of it. Ha ha ha ha ha.
Ooooooh she winds me up! Think I may drop into vtec going past her this weekend... Need to get an induction kit on it for full effect though!
....If she can "hear you speeding" how about passing her at 90mph with the clutch pressed in??? Then the revs would just be at idle????? Therefore you are stationary in her ears! WARNING - this method will not work with REAL speed detection devices
