Top Gear EVO was tweaked

Face it boys, the Impreza got spanked!
In the same way Mitsubishi (aledgedly) modified the EVO I'm sure the Subaru was tweaked also. The Scoobs are renowned for understeer, every one I've ever had does
I'm also pretty sure the STIG knows how to drive and adjust the DCCD to its best option.
Now, off to count my pennies for a new EVO VIII MR340
(I wish)

As **** kickings go this was exceptional. Subaru knew about TG weeks in advance and if they did uprate the WR1 then thank god my money is still in my wallet. Who cares who tweaked what and added this to that. The bottom line to about 5 million viewers is the Evo trounced the Scoob full stop.

supercue i gotta agree with you, on paper the Wr1 is supposed to be better than the MR320 but it got shafted big time, clarkson probably wanted the hype but who knows and who really cares (wr1 owners me thinks
) nellie has his the nail right on the head, ive driven the Wr1 and mr340 back to back and there is a marked difference between the two overall.

Who really cares anyway....you buy what you prefer, and being on this site is proof that we love our scoobies (apart from the obvious few in this thread...why are you guys here anyway, welcome though you are, since that's the type of people us scoobyphiles are!!)
For me, it'll be years before i'll ever be able to afford the latest top of the range scooby...and a few more before i could afford the equivalent mitsi.
I had to ask the bank very nicely for the money to buy a standard MY03 WRX....but i love it to bits, love the fun to be had on this site and all the fun for me will be putting my hard earned cash from all the extra hours i do back into making the WRX less than standard!!!!
For me the MR is an awesome car and i'd love to get my hands on one(although the looks are awful, bring back the Evo VI), but something about the Impreza got to me the first time i saw one, it's in my blood, and i will always have one.
Evo or Impreza owner, just smile and wave at each other, have a couple of beers together when your paths cross and enjoy the fact you are part of something special whichever you drive...at the end of the day they will continue to just keep out doing each other, it's all part of the FUN!!!!
Rant over!!!

Funny that everybody is slating the WR1 now that JC said it was rubbish. I raced a brand new Porsche Turbo on Monday night (with a witness) and was completely equal with him through all gears. As Mike Wood has said in my post regarding the times vrs the STI ... it was a different test driver!! The driver of the WR1 was over-driving the car and that's why it was handling the way it was. Lotus had the same situation and sent a qualified driver down to top gear to show them how to drive the Elise. The results speak for themselves with JC admitting he was wrong!!
Basically all the people who don't own WR1's are so quick to slate them at any given opportunity - however you don't really stop to think about the fact that the car on Sunday was not being driven properly - it was obvious from what happened. The same with the Porshe Carrera GT!!!
I own a WR1 and drive it hard ... I also haven't experienced any of the problems that people who say they've driven them are touting on here. I have had direct responses from Mike on this and when you take his observations into consideration a lot becomes apparent!

You really are a complete load of w@nkers aren't you!!!! Before even asking a question you all go ahead and slate people. None of you drive WR1s or have probably ever driven one by yourself and to it's limits. From that fact alone you should shut the **** up! Secondly I did race the Porshe Turbo and I did keep up. A porsche starts pulling away at speeds over 130mph, I know this because I have had the pleasure of driving a family members two year old Turbo. Of course the Turbo would have pulled away as the Scooby has a limiter and falls off anyway but it didn't get to that stage.
Bunch of w@nkers. bet you're all stand in group a rally drivers who regularly race le mans for fun and know everything about everycar.
(referring to the tw@ts who decided to slate me here not everybody posting on this thread)

gangsta when you say things which (most people) cant/wont/shouldnt believe you should be prepared for a slating..... it seems as though the wr1 isnt as good as its hype then on Top Gear it gets thrashed (allegedly) then you post that you kept up with a porsche turbo ..... a 911 turbo in a 2 litre 320bhp WR1 upto 130 miles per hour.... if thats the case then subaru/prodrive have created a monster which should have wasted all the cars it comes up against in the magazine articles etc etc
unfortunately it hasnt therefore your doing something everyone else isnt... please enlighten us all

Gangster it ws nice to meet you on sat nite at the southend cruise. It was the first time i've ever seen a WR1 and i have to say i loved it....much more than i thought i would.
At the end of the day m8 don't worry about what everyone thinks. You know what you've done in the car and what the car is capable of. You are one of the people lucky enough to own one. Drive it and enjoy it and don't give a damm what anyone says............most people are probably just jelous anyway.
DOg.

The top gear test was using the FQ320MR which was the latest FQ300 model. Again same as above but extra 20 horses.
Both the 330 and 340MR have leather and Smartnav plus power upgrades as standard over and above the FQ300/FQ320MR respectively.
