They sell Poljot on QVC I'm sure they are fine watches as yoza certainly seems to know his stuff, but the stigma of wearing the same watch as some council estate Trisha trash chav puts me right off.

About the only reasonably priced brand I like on the high street is Oris, who still produce mechanical/automatic watches at this level. Most other decent manufacturers now use quartz in their budget (sub £800) ranges, and I won't pay over £100 for quartz. For me, a quality timepiece has to be mechanical, although I was once tempted by a Junghans Titanium.

Don't be tempted by the big (chav) fashion names (Klien/Dior/Gucci et al) as they're just cheap watches with trendy names. Stick to a proper watch company like Raymond Weil, Oris, Maurice Lacroix, Omega, Longines, Tag & Brietling.

Got a fantastic watch for my 21st (sorry cant remember what) sadly it wasnt a brand sold in shops here in the uk. The minute i got a problem no jeweller would touch it with a barge pole. They wont accept any responsibility for damage and to send it back to the manufacturer cost an arm and a leg. Go to the High Street.

Some of the Poljot aviator watches look good, I'm tempted I've always been a fan of the "pilot" style watches and I bought a Revue Thommen a couple of years ago.

It's got an ETA movement (mine keeps time within 3 seconds a day) and is well screwed together but it isn't a posh brand so it's good value for money. There's a couple of reviews here

http://www.jirams.btinternet.co.uk/RTReview.html
http://www.zetleins.onau.net/reviews/airspeedreview.htm

If you like that style, also look at Sinn, Bell & Ross and IWC if you are feeling plush

If we're going plush let's consider Chopard, Baume & Mercier, Pateke Phillipe, Panerai and Audemars Piguet.

www.orolus.com is handy for comparisons.

Good choice James, have you recieved it yet ?

How long did it take to arrive ?

Did you get zapped for import duty ?

Which method did you use to pay ?

I haveny ordered from Poljot for 18 months or so, just wondering if anything has changed.

Sorry Ive just relised this isnt WWW.POLJOT.COM , but the questions still stand.

Thanks.

Get a Seiko. You actually pay for a good solid watch that lasts and is very accurate, not for the name. Plus no one will try and rip it off your arm.

I found a couple of places that were selling it in the UK but they wanted about £800 so in the end I bought it online from www.skw.net for about half that.

The US exchange rate makes it even cheaper now - go for it

I go through real phases with my watches I've got a couple of Tag's that I know Yoza will hate, but they've been very reliable and one has turned out to be a surprisingly good investment - but my current favourite is the Williams F1 Chrono by Oris

Lovely watch.

@yoza

breitling navitimer cosmonaut. know where there are any going cheap? like the look of them, very smart indeedy. went to our only expensive watch shop in Belfast and put it on my wrist. the girl looked a bit dubious when she saw my jeans and teeshirt, but i saw her having a sneaky look at my wrist and her face brightened up when i asked her to hold my omega. do these watch open certain doors? she gave me the the 04 - 05 Breitling catalogue. what can i say, wow nicely put together with some fabulous watches.

cheers

sinky
