jasonius, I believe the 05s have the dampers pre-fitted, so mine probably sounds like yours now.

Quite frankly the dealers and Subaru are unable to fix the problem on my car and I've given up. I reckon I've wasted 8-10 days of my time on this and they won't even offer a free service as compensation. The end result is that I'll never buy a Subaru again as I expect better / more proactive service from a company taking a few hundred pounds off me let alone £20k.

I assume they've tried the diff dampers then? Subaru's UK Technical Manager happened to be in my dealers when my car was in 1st time. He listened to the noise, took it back to their Tech guys, and called my dealer with the solution a couple of weeks ago. Resolved now, as far as I'm concerned.

i getb the same as you with same car but at 98 mph and gets louder as i go faster

this thread has been done, try the search, but i remember that is was the gap between the side mirror mounts and the mirror'

it was a air turbulance or something like that

there are two noises. one is mirror related. one is diff related. if you fold both your mirrors in and it still does it, then its not mirror related. if it sounds like its coming from the back of the car, and sounds like someone blowing over a milk bottles lip, then its the diff thats oscillating a little.

Yep mine does this too at exactly 63mph. 03WRX PPP wagon with 24k on the clock. Definitely not a window seal. Instantly thought it sounded like some kind of transmission whine.

Only noticed it in the last week or so, but as with any new noise it's bugging me already. Interesting to read peeps' experiences. Think I might print this thread off and go pay my *cough* helpful dealer a visit.

Shame that nobody has found a total one-hundred-percent fix for this.
