How on earth were calders running 520bhp, on a standard uk box? Are they just increadibly lucky (until now
) or is it shot peened and the works?
Either way, good going!
Also if this was making 115mph terminals, how come jb got 120mph+ from 450bhp. Is that torque alone?
Dave.

I have some pics, just need to scan and upload, also have the "results" for the car for last year, will scan and post that together with the power/torque graph for last year, it was running 11.7 somethings with 402 bhp and the six speed box ie 5 gears used.
The power/torque curve for the car as now is also available, apparantly initial testing back in Iceland has demonstrated some "significant improvement". Its almost ideal for the six speed box as there is a massive amount of torque available to the red line.
It still has to be finally optimised to suit driver and the drag strip of course.

Last year the car ran with a std Eurospec engine but with complimentary mods and Motec M800 management. This flyer was kindly sent to allthose participating in the car setup, I think it summarises things.

The 60 ft time is quite reasonable.

not meaning to **** on your bonfire, but what is art about that?
Looks pretty std looking apart from a few bolt ons..
APS, pulleys, samco's, filter, rails, oil cap..
The nice thing is the suspension and the hidden bits..
Who will be driving it at ten of the best.. Notice he is the owner, not the driver??

As said earlier, engine bay looks to have very little differences to what my STi 8 looked like....APS Intercooler Pipes, RCM Intake with Samco Hoses, SX reg, Forge Recirc valve??? Nothing Genius about it, certainly no breathtaking innovations or nothing that people havent seen before under there other than the trick suspension

Bobs car has achieved circa 495bhp with the same Turbo - without the Jun Cams.... remember that the icelandic car revs to circa 8500rpm and the cams WILL make quite a difference..........
Running 1.8 and above boost on this sort of Turbo will make one huge difference to the overall bhp/lb numbers.........compared to say 1.35bar....
That said who cares anyway - its a great achievement on a Respected rolling Road........

Fangoria, my point was aimed at the pre-stage II RCM mods, "402HP on Std Eurospec Engine" Not Std at all in reality.
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
After the mods a good result or maybe not....fantasy figures on Race Fuel, knock of 10% for the fuel and suddenly 466 hp isnt that impressive for the level of engine modifications

How does the power curve look from 6500 to 8500 RPM?
If you change at 8500 RPM then you would probably drop back to about 6500 RPM on gearchanges and the car would have a nice 3000 RPM power band from 5500 to 8500? But it would be worth not letting it drop below that from the curves posted?

Conrad you really crack me up.
STD ENGINE ... never mentioned anthing about the ancilliary's ... and the spec was published several times during the variety of discourse that took place last year.
So my post is very clear. STD engine to me is block/pistons/rods/heads/cams/inlet manifold/throttle body/fuel rails. Everything else is ancilliary. The engine did NOT have any internal parts uprated at all, there was no time.
Hopefully thats clear now. And the fuel in the car for that run was VPower which is std pump fuel in Iceland and what it was brought over on.
I know your car couldn't get near this, however its clearly possible as demonstrated by this and Jonno's car which actually was v similar spec but with remapped factory ecu (most of the time)
As for your other comments ... simply no comment, no one is claiming this is the ultimate power car, however its obvious that you don't need loads of power to do good times, just a well balanced setup. And there is plenty of evidence around to support that from several quarters. (thinking of Andy F and Steve Darley here)
John thats why I mentioned it suited the six speed. I still have some boost response tweaking to do on the strip but probably not b4 TOTB. Would like it to hit the 1.8 500 rpm earlier, however with the gearing it has there is no point trying for anything earlier, and I need to ease up the top end a touch but this was mapped at Brunters and we always get it clean and able to run continual laps full chat, once we have that then anything else is very safe for it. The power is just starting to lift slightly and actually of logged on the flat is level pretty much. My AP22 is not in good condition so I've ordered a GTec Pro Competition performance meter, that provides a realtime log and readout of power/torque etc at the wheels and logs to laptop etc,
David, would that be Stella or Fosters ... lol, I find Kronenburg 1664 works well.
cheers guys

just alter the file then ftp it over the top of the old one..
Nice try bob, but look at the time posted.. 10 this morning.. I was at work so I hope I wasnt pissed..
Conrad.. AndyF said earlier about racefuel / vpower. Race fuel can be worth upto 60bhp.
What cams / head mods is this running, what cam timing??
torque seems to be dropping of quite quick from 6k
My car is coming on cam at 5500 rpm and will scream to past 8000 rpm.. ??
Are you monitoring the charge temp, is it that the turbo is maxed out torque falling off?
David

1 bar at 4200 looks quite late but then I believe G force have a fast run up rate which can make this look worse than it is on the road ?
Peak power at 6400 also seems quite early considering the cams fitted, is this turbo limited in this case ? I can't quite grasp it as it seems to hold boost without problem ?
Andy

The files have all been altered and dealt with, need to edit the links as they are slightly different. then everything will be the right size, as I said I'll get the hang of it eventually.
Re boost/power etc etc, no more to be said here. The results are reasonable given the turbo, as I've always said its good for 500 bhp, it was fitted to get the response, for more power read bigger turbo. The Calder car is running a huge turbo on a 2.2 litre engine I hear and so thats the sort of spec to get to 600 horses.
Charge temps .... 12 degrees rise typical 16 max at Brunters, you can see where the sensor is positioned.
It will be interesting to see what I can actually get from the STi5 with its std cams and otherwise similar spec. Looking at the cam specs they are not wildly different.
Think I'll have another play ...

David thats rise above ambient from a running start, from a heat soaked start I guess temps would drop initially and the stabilise, at high speed temp started to fall back.
APS intercooler (the big one)
Re the question over driver this is a father and son project and the son drives at events.
