Question

Conrad you really crack me up.

STD ENGINE ... never mentioned anthing about the ancilliary's ... and the spec was published several times during the variety of discourse that took place last year.

So my post is very clear. STD engine to me is block/pistons/rods/heads/cams/inlet manifold/throttle body/fuel rails. Everything else is ancilliary. The engine did NOT have any internal parts uprated at all, there was no time.
Crack you up? LOL Just needed a few points clarifying......

Hopefully thats clear now. And the fuel in the car for that run was VPower which is std pump fuel in Iceland and what it was brought over on.
Exactly, ~100 Ron fuel not Optimax.

I know your car couldn't get near this, however its clearly possible as demonstrated by this and Jonno's car which actually was v similar spec but with remapped factory ecu (most of the time)
If I recall correctly Jonno's car was using NF to get to just under 400 hp, which was largely debated at the time of my STi 8 as to its merits / power gains. I thought we ended up at the conclusion that NF brought the RON of Optimax upto nearly 100 so not unlike Vpower fuel in reality. Did / does your STi 5 use Optimax / NF combination to reach the 500 hp figure?

As for your other comments ... simply no comment, no one is claiming this is the ultimate power car, however its obvious that you don't need loads of power to do good times, just a well balanced setup. And there is plenty of evidence around to support that from several quarters. (thinking of Andy F and Steve Darley here)
My other comments assuming you mean the underbonnet observations, they are merely observations and my opinion Never mentioned anything about power versus 1/4 times???? Dont doubt there abillity to do quarters the results speak for themselves, my point..... I dont think the results (dynoed power and taking away the 100 ron fuel) justify the sort of money that will have changed hands....

But if the customer is happy thats all that counts....

I always use Optimax plus NF, std mix for me, very well publicised, both STi5 and STi9 the same, look in the projects thread its stated in there.

Cars should be mapped to suit normal conditions so as Iceland is VPower (99 minimum) then thats what this was mapped for.

cheers

The 555 Impreza has completed the first race; a street race (1/8 mile) taking place on an annual three days car festival around our National day, June 17th. The best time was 7,368 sec. (Class and overall winner).

Can someone inform of the 1/8 mile time from the last Scooby Shootout?
