You may not like the WR1 but at the end of the day it is a subaru, and this website is for those that appreciate all things subaru - if you are not one of those people then, to be honest, you should click on the log-out button on the top right hand side of your screen.
As above,Later!!!!!!!!!!!

There's no point in education GS, he is one of those odd ones that turn up on any forum - they use their anonymity to get kicks from winding people up. He has no idea about this or that car, nor does he care about discusion or debate - he just want to push people's buttons, stir up controversy and giggle at the reaction he gets.
He's probably a Sun reporter.

WR1 ... you're probably spot on with your post. I just get very annoyed about people slating the WR1 with no actual fact or experience to base their opinions on. If someone has truely driven the car, and I mean driven it without anybody saying oh I don't want you to do that, then I will listen and take their opinion on board. Other than that I will do what Subaru should be doing and defending the car i just spent upwards of £30K on ...

Gangsta, I feel what your saying, but I can't be assed anymore trying to 'educate' lol ppl anymore by other method other than example. As for the general public Njkmr is correct and as has been pointed out, there is no way to stop the meida from saying what they want to and thus preaching there Gospel. It is, although, disheartening that (imo) such a fantastic car is being dissed, especially so by the ppl who are meant to be subaru enthusiasts. Let them follow the crowd and let them be persuaded to think what others want them to
I haven't heard anything but wow's form ppl when I have taken them for a spin. This coming from evo drivers, subaru drives and subaru dealership employees. Just hope that you meet a few 'non believers' on your private ROAD. With the element of 'surprise' (not that it should be needed) you will hopefully either well and truly take that smug smirk off their faces and teach them a good lesson
or genually surprises them at how well it performs against their more powerful/ modded variants
. This isn't just targeted at subaru drivers and yes, it is tongue in cheek, but, with a semi serious message/ warning

Back on topic though. I can understand the reason mentiond why the WR1 wasn't at the motorshow. But, it is Subaru UK's flagship car atm and personaly I would of liked it to of been there. After all its had alot of publisity so a large chunk off people at the show would know about it and maybe even would want to see it in flesh?? I know I would of!

GreaseMonkey may be nearer the mark, but truly - we are not talking significant improvements here - and going back to my original point, you'll probably find that the Sti will be just as involving when it has been tweaked a little more so that they will continue to sell.
Perhaps this is all down to semantics, what I and probably many consider to be significant improvement over the non special edition route is not delivered by the WR1. The WR1 is more a case of a limited edition model with mild improvements over the existing Sti PPP
If IM want to compete with the after-market tuners and produc something significantly better then they'll have to pull their socks up - and please lets not have any rhetoric with regards to warranty in response to this statement - that is a tired argument which holds very little credibility!

Scooby ... you don't own either car and have not driven a WR1 without restriction. Therefore your arguments meant absolutely nothing. You cannot possibly comment on a car you haven't driven!!! You are going by the tabloid cr@p that is being posted on here!! The WR1 has significant improvements over an STI PPP ... I have driven an STI PPP and I know this to be the case.
You can bang on about scematics and the like until your blue in the face but it is raw data and hear say - not actual physical evidence. You're just another one of the people that think they are experts but have not actually driven either car! So your statements belong in the cylindrical filing cabinet found under a desk!
People who own STI PPP's who swapped them in for WR1s done so because the WR1 is a better car!! Do you really think that people are stupid enough to just go and buy something if it isn't as good as what they have. You just can't handle the fact that you are wrong on this - go and drive both unrestricted and then come back and put your opinions in. Until that time shut up!

Said the same to me about WR1. I asked several other questions about the cars and IM and got blank loooks. Such as why is the japs have had much better specs for years like DCCD-A Auton intercooler spray etc.
Not very good Subaru

18" Prodrive wheels
Lowered suspension
DCCD
Unique paint job
Unique interior
Driving lights
And the fact that it is a limited edition of course, so seeing 8 of them on the way to work in the morning isn't likely...
To you those may mean nothing, to others it's worth a premium over the standard STi PPP. They chose to pay the premium based on all those factors, and more. Why would someone need to "justify" that afterwards? You make it sound like people think they have been ripped off and are now trying to make themselves feel better. They bought the car because they likes the package - is that so tough to get your head around? There is more to a good car than just its power/torque output!

WR1 - you could also have added the significant torque increase and the power uplift to your post as well. The package in total is what makes the car so significantly different to drive, Scooby has probably driven neither car so is unaware of the potential of either!

Went out in a slightly modded WR1 on Sunday, variable boost, larger dump valve and its as fast and well set up as most cars I ve been in, astoundingly responsive in every gear and with a firm but secure ride setup. Personally, if any one on here who only uses a car for road use is worried about having more performance than these cars, not quite sure you should be on the roads today.

You WR1 boys do make me chuckle, it would seem that you will not entertain any other notion that you have bought the ultimate impreza that is beyond critisism...
You're ramblings are rather akin to a lovesick schoolboy, and I can see that there is absolutely no point in trying to enlighten you otherwise
I have considerable experience of driving Imprezas over the last 8 years or so and am not some 'newbie' - the assumptions you jump to are laughable!
I'm glad you are so in love with your charges, it'll leave the next generation of 'tweaked' model to those owners who are willing to be more open minded, or then again, perhaps not, you'll probably fall out of love with the WR1 just as easily as it would appear you have fallen into it!

Yep that's right Scooby.. its the ultimate new IM (UK) Supplied Subaru
unless they now supply something else I don't know about?
or are you referring to any Subaru i.e. supplied as an import or special such as the type 25?
Funny thing is it seems to upset you more as you can't stop whining about it

Children Purrrlease settle down![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
For 30K the WR1 is a sound value for money package wrapped in an eclusive little bow. Yes as road car go this is a mobile missile capable of everyday use.
Now some of the children who cannot afford such a good car are bound to spit their dummies out in frustration arn't you Scooby and Skidmark??
From the rest of us well done and good luck to the lucky few who have such a good looking beast on the drive![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Stick Out Tongue](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
My Scoob as some can vouch is very quick but Gangstas WR1 makes mine look very slow in comparison. Gangsta when you going to let the Cue show you how to drive that car of yours round the lanes properly??![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
BOT- Why would Subaru have an exclusive car on show that is not availble to buy? If they cannot fulfil the orders guess what stand they are going to next?
The WRT car was there purely to show Pro-Drives input and achievements. To be honest I thought the stand was very poor and the people manning it even worse. Very little knowledge about the cars or of any products current or new and when I asked for SIDC discount at the sales counter I got a blank look and she said "Whats SIDC?"
Great another interlectually challanged blonde who was more interested in her nails than me as a customer.![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)
Motorshow was a great day out but Subaru/IM wtf is going on chaps?

Scooby why are you so begrudging against WR1's? I for one think they look really good in the flesh and the colour looks great but maybe a little soft.
Dont think any of the owners are saying that a My04 sti ppp will come nowhere near it just that the wr1 is significantly better, which cannot really be argued with.
Ive not yet had the chance to blag a passenger ride in one yet so cant really comment but if anyone is willing to take me for a spin then i would be grateful as i would like to know how it really compares to my type25.

Jesus christ! As the original thread creator I think this is hilarious!! You lot may have gone off thread slightly!! PMSL. May as well have my own opinion on the WR1 now then...I reckon it looks superb after seeing one on Sunday and wouldn't hesitate spending 30k on one if I hadn't of bought a scooby a few months ago. After seeing the MR340 at the show I reckon the WR1 is better looking in my opinion and that alone would make me buy the WR1, let alone any differences in performance or how fast ONE person can drive it round a track. Anyway, you lot get back to it.......
