Integra has to be the only car that can be mentioned on Scoobynet without someone shooting it down!!

Had one before the Scoob, top motors, and hardly a trace of understeer.. Much more low down torque than people think too, probably due to low gearing and light weight..

The 2 cars achive similar outright performance getting from A to B, but in totally different ways..

Do I miss it.. oh yes.. will I buy another?? Hopefully...

P.S. Its right what Mooseracer said about the airbox, can easily loose power..

P.P.S. They are very fussy on tyres, when I got mine it had P6000's on with about 3mm left, and it tramlined really badly.. 4 new F1's transformed it..

ITG Maxogen is a good bet, carbon fibre box to shield heat, and proven gains. Mugen one looks nice at over £600

Maybe they do, I was simply saying be careful. There are expensive kits that are useless and some 'non-branded' one's that actually work.

ITG's are nice - although they don't really fall into the cheap category

I can't stress enough changing the UK 'teg manifold - it's 'not very good' to put it politely

get a reactive airfilter there wicked stainles stell from the throttle body all the way to filter then the filter has aheat shield and piping which goes out of the side of the car, then a full decat and your looking at least 15 bhp released the cat kills the power since the engine is so high reving thats most probably why the uk spec has lower power

I have a DC2 which ive owned for 2 years now, I can afford to change it as ive just sold my flat and have bought a house, made a packet on my flat so have spare cash but I can't bring myself to let it go, after 2 years i still love it, God knows where some of the mpg figures are coming from, i rarely get much over 200 miles to a tank of Optimax, but then I can't help use the V-tec, thats what its for.

One thing that is really getting on my **** just now is when I put on my blower i get showered in leaves and all sorts of ****, these dont have pollen filters and I was wondering if anyone knows how easy it is to shove a pair o tights or summin over the inlet to act as a filter as I hate having a dirty car.

As for the leaves, I suppose you could either fit a fine gauge mesh, or dont park it under trees!!

Right, where do I start! Ive had 4 scoobs now, in varous guises, but the last was a version 4 STi with 300 bhp. It was simply awesome, and on a country road it really was frigheninly quick. People go on about them being "fast" cars, but I think you have to go in a well driven one to really experience it. 0-60 in about 4.7 and no wheelspin ever off the line is always amusing

Unfortunately,what goes with it is sub 20 mpg, however you drive it. Attracts far too much attention (chased off many a little ****** peering in the windows) Also the insurance costs are steep being an import.

I just bought a flat and spent months trying to decide what to get, which would be cheaper to run / insure, and still be fast. I looked at all sorts, Clio 172, 200SX, MR2 Turbo, 306 XSi, etc etc.

The clio went out the window because of its biggest fault, its French.

At the end of the day, ive always admired Honda's techincal thinking (im a mechnical engineer), and their build quality is great. It is always going to be realiable, handles great, still quick, can be driven very economically, cheaper to insure by £500 and none of the others could fulfil all those criterea.

Comparison:
Its early days but I really like it. I had a go in Tara's and was surprised how quick it was. I was very tentative driving it, so coudn't compare at the time, but clearly it felt like a great package. I had a good blast yesterday and what I missed was the kick in the back from the turbo, but I was shocked at what the speedo was showing on a sprint! It is fast, where I thought it wouldnt be. Definately needs the VTEC point lowering a bit.

I do find it hard to drive fast, as you have to be in loony mode. With the power band of the sccob being in the middle, it was quite effortless. Im a bit worried that ill look like a **** thrashing the car in public! Im sure that will pass.

Engine:
Crisp response from the Honda and the redline is great Scoob engine was solid too but you never needed to go past 6k rpm. Thrashing the ITR is really alien to me at the moment!

Handling:
Not enjoying the wheelspin off the line, and I need to experiment with how best to launch it. Ive had AWD sccobs for 4 years now, so haven't come across this for some time. On the limit the impreza was incredibly controllable, and would just drift rather than spin out. Ive not pushed the ITR yet, but it does feel very close. The scoob does handle very much like FWD.

Brakes:
Far and away better than any scoob ive driven. Brilliant.

Build:
Again, Subaru was designed stripped of all door padding, and mine had an ally boot and bonnet, so quite tinny. The paintwork is much better on the Honda, and mine has not one parking ding! Sccob had loads

Bit early in the day, but im not missing the scoob yet. I probably will when some oik in a Saxo tries to take me. The torque on the sccob meant you could sit next to them for a bit, and dissapear off at will

I spent 3 months looking for a decent DC2 before giving up and buying the scoob. At the time the DC2 was still 10k for a hi miler and 13-14k from dealer and just couldn't resist the brand new scoob for 5k more.

Thinking of a DC2 or even the new one again at the moment.

I'm surprised at this raving over the teg's brakes tbh - actually use the things and they warp and fade like mad, definately need upgrading if you're going to do any track work imo.

You should try the DC5 then. It has brakes that are really good. I have done 2 days at Knockhill, which is hard on brakes. 20 laps without any brake fade is the norm. With the Scoob brake fade is an issue after 5-10 laps.

I have to concur, you can fade the DC2 brakes on the road if you push a little, they are great at quick ish pace but soon get upset if you up the pace for any length of time.

Decent fluid and uprated pads sort it I'm told, but that's kinda obvious really innit.

Ed, beats? I'll take the stereo out, useless extra weight you don't need a stereo with a vtec, that sound more angry than any beats, well apart from maybe german industrial techno/gabba! :P

The said mechanic I was talking about was saying that their dealership was refusing to do servicing on DC5’s, this was last year though, and a shed load have been sold since then, to the extent there was rumours in the motoring press about Honda bring it over officially, those seem to have stopped now, and so probably just speculation.

I am not too bothered about the Honda dealership thing, the only thing that worries me is that if you do have a smack, aren’t you going to wait for a long time to get body panels sent over from Japan. I know it shares a lot of bits and bobs with the Civic so mechanically you should be okay sourcing parts should the worst scenario happen. And if this is the case, isn’t that something that is going to make insurance a joke?

I was quite surprised to find out that I could insure a post 94’ MR2 turbo for the same money, the insurance bod I spoke to said on his screen that the car shares most it’s components with the GT4 and the standard Mr2, so despite it’s crazy performance it was actually very cheap to insure for me, in comparison to what I bet will be a relative fortune for a DC5.

The Honda dealer in Aberdeen has no problem with servicing a DC5. In fact the first time I took it round there, most of the sales staff came out to check it out. Also Honda UK are quite happy to sell DC5 owners a HondaCare warranty. As for getting parts from Japan, Honda UK will do that, though it may be quicker to get them couriered. There has been some posts on this subject on other forums.
