I was'nt at the business end, prefered to be at the other end getting my hand crushed, shouted and screamed at for various illogical reasons and having a good tug on the gas for good measure

W69 and B2Z. FYI (& FWIW) when my GF was pregnant, every now and then she made the most stupidest, irrational statements and decisions. Her thought process was fecked up by the whole process - especially in the 1st trimester. Her moods were deeper shades of black at times - and at those times I kopped most of the flack.

Our situation was that we'd been seeing each other for 3 years, just moved in together and both considered each other life partners. But of course bringing a child into this world is the biggest responsibility a couple can make, so questions are asked of each other when that responsibility is placed upon you rather than decided upon. We'd previously disscussed that we both wanted kids at some stage, being early 30's sooner rather than later - but lets make sure we can get on living together before we even think about having kids.

But once she fell pregnant all the pre conceived ideas of what we were going to go through fell by the wayside and we had a hard time of it adjusting to pre parenthood. But by mid-term everything was fine between us and alot of that was down to the hormones sorting themselves out, not forgetting lots of reassuring discusions about our relationship from both sides.

Basically pregnancy is a rollercoaster ride of emotion for the mother - dad just has to hold on and make sure he's there when the ride stops

Its all worth it in the end

Paul, I think you may be quite young mate, and I find your attitude quite healthy for a youg lad! I always find it a bit sad to see dads who are kids and who havent seen the world first!

HOWEVER remember that I, like most dads here I'm sure, was greeted by THE most delightful smile this morning when I went to get my little monster from her cot. To have anyone SO happy to see you is significantly more important than staggering around a nightclub every Sat night! In fact I'd rather watch the birth again than queue outside a nightclub with £20 in me hand in the vain hope of pulling at some point in the night, but only ending up with ringing ears, an empty wallet and a hangover

I don't really think age has much affect on what sort of Dad you're going to be. Older men don't have any advantage (apart from perhaps financially) than men in their early twenties say.

I guess you either want them or you don't!

I was at the birth, at the business end as well, Wife had to have the hoover thing can’t remember what its called. Basically stick a vacuum suction cup to the baby’s head and drag it out !!! not a pretty site as the muscles don’t have time to relax and let the baby pop out naturally.

W69, you sound like my ex girlfriend....... chill. Do you know that you can sort out your problems without having to resort using scoobynet as 'ammo' against poor B20?

LOL the thread i posted originally was nothing to do with my bf, was merely my curiousity as me and work colleagues had been discussing it. It just descended into abuse

As you know nothing about mine and 'B20' s situation or even know us then i think you can keep your 'poor B20' comment to yourself.

Thanks

You're not far wrong mate... even down to the saturday night thing! I remember when I had a job which was rota based a few years back and I point blank refused to work Sat evenings or Sunday mornings, to the point where I'd quit before buckling - it meant that much to me. The fact that I knew the company owner helped though

I know it's one of those attitude to life things you supposedly grow out of (so people keep telling me, the worrying thing is that mates the same age as me are starting to believe it as well as older peeps) but in my case I really can't see it. I'm very independant and love being able to get up every morning and think "I'm gonna do this" - obviously I have to do stuff during the week but if I got bored I could quit in an instant. Relationships and kids ain't quite so easy to switch off, if they were I would probably try it out for the odd day until I got bored

We'll see how it pans out over time, I am fully aware that there are aspects of myself that I haven't yet discovered and a big change may be lurking, though I doubt it's that big a change.... if Scoobynet's still here in 10 years time I'll try and remember to make a point posting in this thread to confirm whether I've managed to maintain my independant rampant lifestyle
