1,000 mile service

Triggaaar,
No the car is crap. Biggest mistake you've ever made buying that :P
It is great. Ive driven 2 UK spec cars and a WRX before I knew that I wanted the WRX. Forget about all the sh*t you hear about the hard suspension being no good for UK roads. Its good and just right. Did a run along the south coast on Tues with windy bits and thought it was great.
The only thing that isnt as good as the UK model is the breaks. New UK models have proper breaks. Compared to an ordinary car the breaks are good but I dont think they are man enough for this type of car.
Of course, being a WRX, it has climate control instead of the standard air con of UK cars which is way better. You aint fiddling with the controls all the time trying to get the temperature just right.
I think yours is identical to mine (orginated from the same place too - Cyprus) and you have a sunroof.
It has the small spoiler that were on the earlier UK models. Not the big one.
Electric windows all round.
It has sexy electric mirrors that are not only adjustable but will fold at a press of a button.
The car sterio is pretty good but wont pickup all FM channels. I believe you can a something to correct it. Built in tape player as well as CD player. Obviously it is still something that came with the car so it is good but not great.
Momo stearing wheel.
Now for the bad part. The seats. They are a bit loud. If you've only seen recent UK models seeing the WRX maybe a bit of shock. My wife wasnt impressed.
Lots of Japanese instructions in the engine bay and stuff :P . Not sure thats a feature.
It sounds, goooood. It rumbles at idle but isnt noisy, just a great raspy sound.
Obviously I cant tell you too much about the performance as I am being easy on it but Ive driven both UK and WRX within a day of each other and know the difference will be worth it.
The fact you saved money is bonus. Of course warranty and all that wont be as UK but what the hell.
Will I take on a track ? Dont know.
Mods ? Dont know yet. The thing I want most is probably breaks and new stereo.
Triggar, did you or the dealer organise the SVA. I had major headack. How did he do it ?

bkar,
Please tell me the seats aren't yellow - please! TELL ME THE SEATS AREN'T F*** YELLOW!!!!!
I looked at the interior of the WRX on the Japanese site - yellow - like you, my wife will be less than impressed (she doesn't like the spoiler either).
Radio will hopefully be ok, they said they will sort out the fm frequency bit. They also said they'd remove the delimiter, which I won't find out until it's run in (I'll just check, as I don't want to find out on my first track day).
You suprise me about the breaks - I've heard the uk cars breaks have been improved (4 pots) I assumed the WRX would have the same ones?
The importer pre booked a bundle of SVAs, as they were importing a load.

Triggarr,
The seats arent yellow.
Well actually the are dark grey with 3 inch Yellow trimmings on either side. Its pretty loud.
Oh, yeah, did I say theres an electric ariel, and a rear windscreen wiper (yes on a saloon).
Unfortunantly the breaks are two pots not the four pots as the new UK models or STIs . (I had the car spec sent before I received it)

Triggaarr,
Low spoiler.
And yes, those are the seats you see in the WRX section. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Tell the missus they are completely yellow, that way when she sees she wont so angry
Same wheels as Web site too.

Mme, nice job on the interior (no offense to those who have installed it, but you have to admit your taste is appauling )
I think I'll just spray the seats black - if paint is good enough for the grass at the French GP...
At least she will be happy that the spoiler is the low one - I'd got used to the idea of having the higher version.
SVA today - I can imagine a fog light being selotaped on as I type.

I feel that everone will be close when the new car arrives (not due to speed, just a willingness to drive anywhere).
bkar is on the south coast I think (correct me if wrong) and I'm west London. bkar got his wrx direct from Cyprus, I am getting mine through importers, but they sound identical.
Why do you ask?

bkar,
My dealer has given me 1 years warranty with the AA - I can extend it, but I'm worrying about other things first.
I can imagine a dodgy fog lamp dragging along the floor - but I could be lucky.
I like the sound of seat covers!
I won't see it until it's delivered - the money will be out of my account well before I know if it really exists! I'm not particularly worried though (yet) - I'll find out tomorrow if it went through it's sva ok.

Triggaar,
Let us know how it goes.
If you have any trouble I doupt that I can help, but on the off chance I can email me on bkar@talk21.com .
Hope all goes well. Stressfull but worth the trouble. Ive done my 1,00 mile and shall be looking for the 1,000 service.
Ive gone over the 4,000 revs quite a few times (or a lot, but never constantly), which probably makes me a bad scooby driver, but as the manual says "in emergency", which basically is any time I overtake and feel I ought to make it safer by adding a few gees.
Noticed you had a Dino. Any good ?. You still got it ? How much did it cost ?

bkar,
Well, apparantly it has passed it's SVA (whoopy) but they have not got the paperwork yet, so it has not yet gone to the DVLA for registering. I am getting impatient now - I've had to cancel the airfield day on the 24/7 as it won't have had enough of a run in.
Let me know how much your service costs, which oil you go for and whether your following the 'waxoyl' advice at the same time - so many questions!
Over 4,000 revs! Tut tut. I was planning on following the guidelines to the letter, but I've had to wait longer than I expected, so I'm not sure how well I'll do now.
So you don't want to know about the fiestas and astra! Dino was good - performance was good, but I didn't go as close to the limit as I would be willing to in a subaru (don't panic, I wasn't ***** footing around - that would be a crime) - sound was amazing. Sold it in Feb this year, hence funds for a scooby. It only cost about 8k 17 years ago (my dad's originally), but it was completely rebuilt over the years. Sold for 33k.

Hi Triggaaar,
Wander why you had delays with the paperwork. I walked out of the SVA center with a SVA test certificate. I then zoomed to the registration office with it. I barely filled any of the forms but did it with the assistance from the people at the registration office.
Keeping meaning to ring around for the service. Oil ? god knows - so bloody confusing.
Previous owner of a Dino....shish.... lucky devil.
