Spent some time driving a Chevrolet Monte Carlo recently. Reminded me how much I hate slushboxes. Was also interesting that the tyres were 225/65s. In the UK/Europe, if you get 225 width tyres they're usually no more than 45 cross-section.

American auto's are usually low tech, slow changing, inefficient and probably the term slush box was invented, most are still 4 speeders.
Modern Euro/Jap boxes are crisper and faster. Mercs new 7 speed auto posts faster times with greater fuel economy than the manual on some varients.

For modern driving in a big saloon give me a auto anyday.

Would still like a manual for trackdays and weekend blast (If you can find a clear road at a weekend)

OTOH, I was thinking of buying a Bentley Turbo R, which is a 3-speed auto. Who needs gears when you've got a 6.8-litre turbocharged engine?

Just think how good it would be with a 7 speed box.

Doesn't the Bentley have the rev range of most modern diesels.
