don't worry m8 samco's are great just a pain to fit at times.
mine's got the pipe from the maf to the turbo...... er memory's gone the whatdayamacallit pipe............ anyways that was a maaaaajor pain to fit especially when you see the amount of engine bits on the floor just to get to the thing
every other samco pipe is easy just DONT fit the pipe that goes into the brake vacuum...... bad news that one you end up with NO brakes when coming off full boost...
any more info just ask.
hope your still enjoying your wee beastie

tuscan ... you are spot on with your diagnosis. The pipe actually got so hot that it melted and then split - which was why the check engine came on and I was experiencing ECU fuel cut. Two days before that though a pipe collapsed in on itself and caused the boost to not get through -- hence robbroy making my car look like it was going backwards on the 127!
harrymonk ... good to meet you also mate. As I said before my first two runs were just me seeing how the car would respond as I was bricking it after the problems I had been having! Need the car for picking up the chicks during the week - plus I don't want to have to call Subaru Assist again and have to explain to the guy who came round what a boost actuator was and where in the engine it is located!!!
I got my best time on the third run but it was just my cr@p driving that defeated me - think I was trying to proove myself just a bit too much!
Am happy with my purchase. Of course I would have liked to have posted a proper time but as anyone who knows me will tell I never turn a challenge down! I will proove Prodrives times!!!!

Respect to the chappy from Prodrive for trying to help. I am sure they don't want you to have any probs on such a new car. I reckon they will come up with the goods for you and sort it out.

prodrive will probably send mike wood to 1/4 mile the car!you will definitely need you warranty after that!!
i am surprised prodrive are supporting their "best uk" car on a 1/4 mile as they can wreck a clutch easily-i do not think you can claim that under warranty!!

p1doc ... on the Subaru homepage they are advertising the car as the fastest UK scoob being built to date. Speed and acceleration are things that they will tell you about when trying to sell the car. They want you to drive it fast and that is how the car has been set up. Track days and the like are even advertised on their website (Subaru)
They don't advertise it as a car to wrap up in cotton wool and never take about 4000 rpm!

What's actually caused the pipe to get so hot?
Am not a lover of Wr1s, but like GPug - it's the owners (in general) that cause most of the dislike. Come across a few on the road already and they've been amongst the biggest w4nkers I've experienced - not saying you are (but being mates with Arron doesn't help your cause ) of course.
What I don't actually get are the people that buy a Wr1 and then mod it, invalidating their warranty, which is one of the biggest reasons for buying one in the first place over a Spec C/Type 25. Doesn't make sense to me.

Basically the Type 25 and Spec C are imports and don't have good warranties - by that I mean 3 years with an extension to 5. I am 22 and can't get insured on an import with a value of 35k. therefore the WR1 is perfect for me.
If I could have afforded and got insured a t25 and the warranty was over a year then that's what I would be driving one, same for a spec c.
What people seem to forget is that the WR1 is an equivalent speed to a spec c. I've got a WR1 and have had the pleasure of going out in a spec c. Regardless of what top gear or evo say the WR1 is extremely fast and is in the league of the above cars. A lot of people (maybe 85%) who slate the WR1 have never driven one on their own with no restrictions - therefore they're arguments lack that element.
It's like saying chinese is better than indian, without actually having ever eaten it before!

I know the T25 and Spec C are imports, my comment was aimed at WR1 owners who buy the car because it has a better warranty than the imports, then they go and void it anyway by modding it.
