Frequently Asked Questions - Online Rod Licensing System
What types of licence can I buy online?
You can purchase full, junior concession (12 to 16 year olds), 8 day and 1 day licences for both coarse fish and non-migratory trout and salmon and sea trout categories. Unfortunately, because we need proof of eligibility, we are not able to issue senior citizen (65s or over) or eligible disabled concessionary licences on-line.

That is a lovely fish from the Cowie, I think I recall you saying that it went back as well which is something that I sometimes have mixed feelings about but which could certainly make a difference, especially on a smaller or spate river.
I'm not much of a salmon angler and actually turned down 3 weeks last year, on some amazing water, so I could tramp over some bogs and chase little wild trout. However, there is no question that a salmon is an amazing creature and a day or two now and again chasing after them is good for the soul. Of course the reason it's good for the soul is due to the improbability of actually catching one of the things.
My fishing ambition isn't to catch a big salmon, it's to take a 6lb wild brown trout from a remote wee loch that everyone else says isn't worth fishing. I'm not sure if it is a more or less achievable aim but it's fun.

Hedgehog...I know what you mean m8. I particularly enjoy running water although I do a bit of stillwater.

Good looking fish Zeolite, the two I caught were in Totnes weir pool on a sunny day, one was 10.5lbs and the second was 12.5 lbs. I only had a 9 weight reservoir trout rod so I was bit knackered by the time I landed the second one. Bit of a red letter day but has never happened since! Had some decent sea trout though.

You should be able to buy a day pass from the gamekeeper. Thats what I normally do when I go to the River Lune. Think its about £15 and it comes with a list from the Environment Agency on what you can catch/keep.
Your only allowed to keep one Salmon a year!!
