5 pages and excellent technical reading.

Seems sound, think I read the article a while back. Not used Motul myself, Mobil 1 Motorsport now Castrol RS 10/60 .

Thanks

I found Mobil 1 Motorsport better than Semi synthetic but Motul 300V Competion made the Mobil 1 seem like wee wee.. engine was smoother and less rattly etc..

Does anyone flush their engine out between switching oils? If so, what engine flush do you use?

No, I don't like to put any of those kinds of addictives in my engine..

The oil flushes out anything that shouldn't be in there when you do the oil change, feel they are a cleverly marketed item that do nothing but cost you money and possibly risk damage to the engine..

My engine has never been flushed other than the normal oil changes.. about to hit 150,000miles.

Hmmmmm - thanks Simon.

Interestingly enough and just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, Motul told me that "300V is not designed to use in town traffic".

I would strongly recommend that you don't use flushing oils or the like, just flush with the new oil and change the filter.

That's actually good advice, 15w-50 is really designed more as a race oil for operating at high temps and being a 15w doesn't give the same "short journey", "cold start" protection as a 5w or 10w. The oil is thicker so it doesn't circulate as well when cold.

The conclusion of the "Lubricating a Subaru" report was that a 5w-40 or 10w-50 was the correct oil for the car depending on the type of driving you are doing.

I am hoping to post the full 5 pages up here in the next couple of days.

Cheers

Not necessarily, wait until I post the report, that'll explain why.
