Makro doing Pocket PC & GPS bundle for £270.00 inc VAT

If it has the UK map software with it, would it be safe to assume that it does come with some decent ram.
I agree with what you say but as a standalone GPS satnav kit for your car i dont think anyone can come near it other than the Medion that Aldi did (which i got via Dazza01) and i'm more than pleased with that considering that at one time i was going to splash out £400.00 - £450.00 for a package.
I would say that if you want the PDA for some other arduos task other than satnav then maybe you should look elswhere for a better PDA but for a budget priced satnav package its
after all in 6 -12 months time why not upgrade to a better PDA if you have to. Its worth keeping the £130.00 you'll spend on getting a better PDA, put it in the bank or buy some mods either way, you've still got satnav just the same as peeps who have spent over £1,000.00 for an upgrade option on a car

Normally the maps and the navigation software come on a CD. You will have to load the apps onto the PDA. This can be done via the Active Sync software (free download from Microsoft). Not too difficult really. This should all be in the instructions supplied with the PDA and navigation software.

Another point - the camera map POI overlay maps etc wont work with the software supplied (not as far as I could see anyway ). So if (like me) you were hoping to save on the cost of a seperate Road Angel, you'll need to budget for diff software. However, it is still an excellent deal and will prob get one for the other half but will prob go for a diff bundle for me.

That's a good point Trashman - the POI databases are very useful and certainly add something to the functionality and usefulness of PDA based sat nav.

Buzzer - it's to do with the way they are written. Most are designed to work with Tom Tom Navigator software. There are other versions, but I haven't seen one that supports the Via Michelin software. Details here

Sorry to Hijack the thread but is it possible to add a data base of points of interest to Auto route for example locations of of suppliers outlets?
The reason i ask is i manage a team of electricians working in the south east and to have all the suppliers outlets on Auto route in the office would enable us to look up the closest branch to the job with out ringing round!

Anyone have more info on loading POI data to this system, and what software would be needed? As i would only buy it if i can add the speed camera locations.

I dont know what files the POI's have to be in? I converted the ov2 files that tom tom uses to SCII files for my Medion. The converter programme was on the Pocketgps website
Maybe Chris L knows what type of files these are in, either pm him or wait for a passing lurker with knowledge

Well Reading don't have any sold out in 20 mins apparently. How I don't know - seemed to be full of people who couldn't learn "Do you want fries with that?"
Think I'll wait and spend a bit more on a higher spec.
