As I said it was not a subtle way of putting it.

I Thank you for the support.
I felt subtlety wasn't required here. Being fat isn't cool, simple.

Blimey, saying you are happy with your weight make you a feminist ? Cant see the relation I am afraid.
She has a problem with her weight and would probably want to be slimmer - but nobody except her knows why she is so over weight, so why be so nasty ?
Not everybody can just lose weight when they want - especially when they get older.

Tell her like it is, she's fat, unnatractive and selfish and probably soon to be a drain on resources (unless she goes private).
Lenny has already done something about it. Got it on with someone else he could manage without a harness.

I never said being fat makes women a default feminist. She is just an example of a fat feminist. Its like the advert for the ice creams. "walls 7 deadly sins"...... Cooor, choca-moca double treacle you little devil you.
F$cking sad.

And how will it burden the NHS? Smoking burdens the NHS, alcoholics burden the NHS both these are avoidable and unecessary.
Diabetes can affect many different people. Heart attacks hit many different people, so just how will being fat / obese burden the NHS? Almost all things that effect overweight people can effect thin people.
Also if you go by government figures and the BMI stats then Jonny Wilkinson is overweight, Pincent and Redgrave are overweight.

Being fat is a direct resultant of eating crap, drinking crap and being a lazy f$ckwit, unless there is a medical problem (which too many people use as an excuse) there is no excuse. You have heart problems etc. Obescity is a MASSIVE problem nowadays. England is fast becoming like America with the weight issue. Poor diet/lifestyle.
People that smoke I place in the same category.
People with diabetes is hardly their choice is it!! Therefore not a burden on the NHS....merely a reason for the NHS's existence.

I'm not saying it isn't true, but I would like to see evidence to substantiate these claims.

My whole point about the BMI is that it is very flawed and cannot therefore be relied apon as a good indicator. Specially if such sportsman can be classified as over weight, regardless if it was done on a cross section of the public.
Regarding kids not doing sports. Complain to the government for allowing the sell off of sports fields to fund the schools. Several schools in my area have sold the fields to housing developers to help fund the school. Outside of school then it's upto the parents and kids themselves.
My head is not in the sand. I want to see circumstances changed. I just don't believe that poking fun at people is a good way to do it.
Spoon - fair enough on the selfish comment.

Its all just another example of Englands dwindling standards.
The obescity issue is major now. There are loads of TV documentaries discussing this point and the fact that 1 in 3 (I think) are obesce. Its becoming a major problem and will in the future be a massive burden on the infrastructure of this country.
P.S. Someone said about Jonny Wilkinson being over-weight.......err, that'd be muscle silly!!!

As well as the funding issues there's then the litigation should they do anything at school like trip over grass that is 2mm too long according to the EU.

I'm basing my argument on what I see. When I go to France I simply don't see fat people. They eat properly. I tell a lie, I did see a fat bloke in France.....then he spoke to his wife in an American accent.

Health Risks
Obesity is more than a cosmetic problem; it is a health hazard. Approximately 280,000 adult deaths in the United States each year are related to obesity. Several serious medical conditions have been linked to obesity, including type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Obesity is also linked to higher rates of certain types of cancer. Obese men are more likely than non-obese men to die from cancer of the colon, rectum, or prostate. Obese women are more likely than non-obese women to die from cancer of the gallbladder, breast, uterus, cervix, or ovaries.
Other diseases and health problems linked to obesity include:
* Gallbladder disease and gallstones.
* Liver disease.
* Osteoarthritis, a disease in which the joints deteriorate. This is possibly the result of excess weight on the joints.
* Gout, another disease affecting the joints.
* Pulmonary (breathing) problems, including sleep apnea in which a person can stop breathing for a short time during sleep.
* Reproductive problems in women, including menstrual irregularities and infertility.
Health care providers generally agree that the more obese a person is, the more likely he or she is to develop health problems.
Now I know what you find on the web does nto make it fact but those are the points raised many times from various sorces.

but if you've ever been in the same queue as a bloater in a supermarket who stinks, then it's not pleasant nor should it be tolerated.
but
.... just to keep the scoobynet PC mafia happy I have also stood behind skinny (under-horizontally challenged ) people who stink too
However, I must add that it's easy to differentiate between these 2 odours in any blind-folded guess the pong .... Wide or Thin test

I agree about the trolley point - masses of frozen convenience foods, crisps, chocolate etc etc. No fruit, veg etc etc. My mum always notices this to.
When I was a child I was not bribed nor given into when it came to snacks/treats. I was given meat and vegetables and fruit and if I didn't eat it I would simply go without. Result is I'm a normally built, fit and healthy 23 year old. These days everything has changed and kids winge and whine thus getting that pack of sweets/burger/chips instead of a wholesome meal.
My mum laughs at me, when I was in my pushchair I always wanted a Pepperami - not sweets!! lol.
(yes fat lovers, I know Pepperami's are fatty so I didn't eat them all the time).

Fat people smell like the juice of a cold beef burger. If you get a burger and squeeze it you get all that **** ouzing out of it. THAT is rubbed under the fat foooockers armpit.....coupled with a small incline on a moderatley hot day equals a major pollution of the nasal passage!!!

Are we being "fatist" ?? Discuss....
The real reason why Britian is so overweight is all due to political correctness
Let me explain
Back when I were a lad..... The fat kid got the **** ripped out of him in the playground and either lost weight to avoid the slagging or lost the weight tyring to chase the kids that were taking the **** out of him
Now that the fat kid can't get slagged without the agressor having his *** sued off by the fat kid's mum and dad ... then the fat kid is free to go about being as fat as he or she likes
Another case of political correctness gone mad IMHO
