this is like big brother
as in - u get to see a whole argument at once!
i was down in england last week (i washed throughly when i got back)
it took me (legally) :
2.5 hrs to get from london docklands to end of M6 toll.
2 hrs to get to preston
1 hr to get to borders
3 hrs to get from the borders to perth.
shows u how far scotland is from the most populated parts of england.
depending on the reasons for selling, selling things locally can be beneficial to the scoobynet community.
You see, theres 2 sides to that community. Theres the online side and theres the local meeting side.
Talking of local roads, talking of scoobynet names, talking of meets, talking of selling things locally builds up the local community spirit. It builds the making m8s (people u meet maybe once a month or such).
I sold my oil and octane boosters to local people (through the scotland forum). Through that i met someone i had not met before but wanted to.
I mean, if there was a 'meets' forum - would all the talk of regional meets be there? doesnt make sense for it. it doesnt get the targeted audience
the post on 'why ur username?' was aimed locally, probably to get talking to the local peeps for if/when we do meet up, or people we have met and will meet again. how many times have u met people and said that ull chat to them online - now knowing who there are - put a face to a username.
the same post could be made in the general forum asking everyone just out of interest.
again, the same post could be made in the muppet forum for a complete laugh and **** take.
its good that dougster is back/didnt go properly.
i agree that the online national scoobynet community spirit needs to be protected and nurtured - but the local bbs community spirit should also be protected and nurtured so that scoobynet is all inclusive.
if the rules were to force a ScottishScoobys site, then the rules surely were not right?
as with the united kingdom, regional communites all under a united banner is better than separate communites with no links.
a single united with no regional doesnt work.
separate regionals doesnt work.
united regional would.
good luck all.

And here was me thinking that Dougster was leaving to start his own "ScoobyNet Scotland" forum!
Actually, thats not a bad idea!
There is a Civic Type R forum, and a Type R Soctland forum.
SN Scotland would be coooooooool!

Welcome back Dougster.
Glad there has been a glimmer of light and I am sure many people will be watching closely (and posting carefully) in the Scotland section.
I totally believe that the Scotland section has a community spirit and its the real life contact and the dialogue which makes it worthwhile - actually talking online to people you have or may meet - ideal.
Long live the Scotland section of Scoobynet!!!!

Didnt even realise u were the mod till u said u were resigning Dougster!
good to hear ur staying mate.
(RS Grant is right, this bbs is not life or death but unfortunatly some moderators on here seem to think it is. I dont know if they dont have a life outside SN or maybe they get no respect in the 'real world' so feel the need for a little power trip. Maybe they should get another psuedo-power job instead..... how about Traffic Warden or litter attendant or something? )
Kosy.

So - Is there to be any changes in the Way the Scotland Forum is Moderated. Being a Fat English Tw@t living in Scotland I too am somewhat bemused at the attitudes displayed when someone tries to sell something in Scotland (It's almost as bad as the Was it you section covering the whole world - but that's a different problem). The For Sale section should be for things that people want to sell to a global audience and the Regional sections should be for those people wanting to sell locally. Maybe the For Sale section could have some sort of Region split to allow all users to be able to select all items for Sale or just items in their Region (and I know Scotland is a country before you all start banging on about me being ignorant as well as a fat tw@t ). If I was looking to buy a 22B Type UK then I would be willing to search the entire UK but if I was after a set of Track day tyres I'm not going to get excited about some for sale in the Isle of Wight !!!
Surely If I'm trying to sell something in Scotland then it has as much right to be in The Scotland Forum as it does the For Sale forum
Which is the more obvious choice - and should it be up to the Moderator or the user making the post ?
ps It's good to see a moderator standing up for the down trodden Scots
pps http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...or#post3352191 Might have to change this

Hey mods, is there anyway you can have the forums organised like ebay, where you have a parent section, which you can then subdivide.
ie - Have a FOR SALE section, that shows everything for sale, but then you can click on 'SCOTLAND', 'WALES', 'IRELAND', 'THAT OTHER PLACE' to get just the things for sale in that area.
ie
http://motors.listings.ebay.co.uk/Wh...istingItemList
Will show you all alloy wheels, but by clicking on 18" at the side you get just the 18's.
Is this poss? That would keep everyone happy !
Just a thought !
