Aliens is without doubt the best.
Alien 2nd there is no question
Then HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE gap
Alien Resurrection
Alien 3
(Alien 3 would beat Ressurection, except for the worst CG Alien I have ever seen)

It has to be Aliens for me also, the last one had me welled up when the baby alien that the women gave birth to died so horrifically. *sniffle*
However none of them scare me enough. Scary movies *have* to have clowns/ghosts/scary little living dolls in them to scare me hehehe.
*chuckles at Nikko*

Obviously not from the Alien series, but I saw a trailer for this film tonight and thought it looked pretty good.

Aliens is the one I enjoyed most.
Alien was the one that nearly much knashing of teath and nearly caused soilage.
The ones after that are not worthy of comment, although it was nice to hear a Yorkshire accent in number 3.

'in order:
Aliens (by a long long way)
Alien Ressurection
Alien
Alien 3 '
mein gott! Alien resurrection at no2 is sacrilege. It was a pathetic film. The Queen at the end resembled a pumpkin head from Halloween 2.

They were all poo - Event Horizon was far better - leave nostalgic sentimentality at home - Alien(s) were pants...
After 9 pints that took ages to type but I stand (I mean stagger) by it...

the first was an absolute masterpiece which had atmosphere, atmosphere and atmosphere
the second was fekin remarkable but did not live up to the first in atmosphere and suspense stakes
the third i thought crap when i first watched it but has grown on me since
the fourth is................................................ ............................sigourney weavers worst hour

*Ok Alien didn't drool, it dripped acid , but aside from that Aliens was and is the best sequel ever, beating the original into touch

Hopefully it won't be cut to smitherines to get a 12 rating!!!
As for the best, Aliens DC beats Alien by a very narrow margin. It has to be DC as well. I saw the non-DC shortly after DC and they cut some of the most important/best bits.

Eh? Event Horizon rocks man! To me its like Hellraiser in space. Its not to everyones taste granted but it is a good film.
AVP should be good but its got to be toned down to at least a 15 to make it profitable. Look at the Rollerball remake, utter garbage made worse by being cut to hell to get a 12 certificate.

I beg to differ, the best sequel ever is undoubtedly, and indisputably The French Connection 2

Love these films.
My order of choice:
Aliens
Alien
Alien 3
Alien Resurrection
Loved Aliens when I saw it at the cinema. Loved the DC when that came out. Pity that the added-back-in scenes have a slightly different colour vibrance than the rest of it - quite easy to spot the new bits, even if you're not familiar with the film.
Another thing I really like about the series is that they're all different:
Alien - Sci-fi chiller, nasty-thing-lurking-in-the-dark type horror. Bloody scary (and original) in it's time.
Aliens - Gung-ho action-splat film laced with comedy, guns, gear and gore. More "quotables" than Weird Science and Blazing Saddles put together. Non stop entertainment from start to finish. Genius!
Alien 3 - Dark. Interesting predicament. Let down a bit by the CGI alien.
Alien Resurrection - More dark. More action. Evil human greed plot theme. Story is getting a bit tired though. Starts off as quite a good film but is let down horribly by the human/alien hybrid monster nonsense at the end....

Think I prefer 3 to 1 - it's a lot darker and more claustrophobic, and there's not just the Alien running around - she's stuck in a prison full of rapists FFS!
