No doubt though in my mind the blobeye is a better car than the classic in almost every way.

0-60 = 5.6
0-100 = 16.1
Subaru quotes for WRX03 + PPP
0-60 = 4.8
0-100 = 14.1
EVO tested standard WRX03:
0-60 = 5.5
0-100 = 15.7
EVO tested the WRX03 PPP and rated it highly, so it cant all be bad.
Autocar tests are much the same as EVO, so the quotes from IM/Subaru sound quite reasonable to me.
As to the WRX PPP vs modded clio = depends on mods and how far you want to take them, as in all cars, not just these two.

Last figure being 1/4 mile terminal with preceeding being 1/4 time and 0-100 before that.
Strange how it takes 4 seconds to gain 8mph from 92 to 100 for the 94 car, but the 98 one takes only 1.6 to gain 13mph!

"Performance Car (sadly no longer with us), as part of their 0-60 challenge timed the Impreza at a mind blowing 5.03 seconds for the 0-60 sprint, with the 1/4 mile being covered in 13.72 seconds at 100.6 mph"

This thread started with the insinuation that a Clio 182 was quicker than a WRX, I tried to comment on the standard WRX vs standard Clio 182, but it has gradually turned into impreza vs impreza and whats the point in that ? I thought we were all on the same side ??
The figures were just given to try and prove a point, I drive 1000 miles per week in my WRX and all I know is IMO it is a perfect mix of power / handling / comfort / practicality / quality and value. I don't think in that respect there are many if any cars out there that can offer the same, and certainly not a bloody Clio.

Every classic is capable of running 13s (1/4mile) all day long. That Clio (albeit modded) only manages 14s absoulte best.
I think we've concluded the bad times were down to $hit driver/missed gears etc.
If clio driver raced many of us he would be able to tell us what times we ran as it flashes up on the board as he goes through (santa pod)!
He should save those vids and show em to his grankids etc as its a rare thing to happen indeed.
