I find 0-60 is quite useful for a road car, it tells you something about traction and acceleration ability up to the national speed limit on anything but a motorway or dual carriageway. You know that something that does 0-60 in under 5 will probably be interesting, under 4 will be exciting.

0-60, yeah cos I often stop then start again on full cream just to se how fast my car is.

If it never meant anything they wouldn’ bother to print it.

"I thought we were all on the same side ??"

There are no sides just a discussion on a car related BBS between fellow anoraks. Regardless of what car they currently own.

0-60 is not important to me as I purchase cars to be driven on a track.

0-60 only tells me how quick I can pull out of the pits

I do, hence my post.

0-60 is printed for people that say "whats your car do 0-60 in". If you wanna be serious it originated way back when cars did little more than 60 ; therefore it showed overall acceleration. These days it means n'n'n'n'nowt!!

Sarcastic tosser eh!! Well, people with a greater level of intelligence often come across as such and a to55er....well yeah I am. All blokes are aren't they....unless they're a bit, well a bit odd.

Not even that Davy cos out the pits by the time you get to corner 1 you're probably not doing 60. Hence why 0-60 is as useful as a one legged duck trying to bury turd on a frozen pond.

0-60 has far more relevance than 0-100 or 1/4 mile as when do u actually do that sort of driving on the road ? 0-60 is very often used at traffic lights etc whereas getting to 100 is both illegal and licence threatening - we all do it but actually full bore 0-100 ? Cant remember the last time.

In actual fact the only realistic and useful gauge is in gear acceleration between 30-70 as this is where most of out full throttle exploits occur whilst overtaking most of the rest of the population.

For the benefit of all you Clio nuts, I am going to accept that the Clio is a quick car, infact a very quick car, fastest on the road actually, faster than a Maclaren F1 from what I have heard. Latest news is that Schumacher is in one next year.

Its still a girls car.

I dont know as a guide it has it's uses, pulling out of a junction during heavy traffic anyone?

Plus being honest if your ever showing off a car to your mates, surely at some point in time you stop and boot it from stationary

Do agree that 0-100 (or 30-70 which is more realistic in everyday conditions) is more of a usable statistic however.

At one of the places I drive I only use 3th, 4th and 5th gears and accelerate to 140mph.

Hence 0-60 is a load of old bollox in my book.

Your not far wrong about the girls car comment though. But being able to borrow my GF's car and still kick Impreza *** is s fine feeling

Don't be silly......I've seen you, this is what you do. After a given corner you'll stop then say:

"wait wait, no shutup, I wanna show you how fast my car REALLY is, shutup let me concentrate.....right. Revs at 4'000, check!! Handbrake on, check!! 5,4,3,2,1.....go go GGGOOOO!!!!"

....err, or not.

Wasnt the thread about a race at a drag strip?

As for borrowing your girlfriends clio and beating a scoob....

...well we've already been there...but I'll say it again.

ANY std classic scoob is faster than that modded clio. Period.

Not in the last few weeks no. Forgetting rubbish 0-60, in gear I was quicker. The bug eye scoob was dire.

This isn't opinion. I know the Scoob is a better car but my old 172 was simply quicker than this wrx. I've no allegiance to either so no need to lie have I.

So, who thinks a a MY01 WRX is quicker for normal roads than a 172??

Say what you want but the Clio was quicker. Can't comment about the newer WRX and I know the classics were quicker than any Clio. I refer to the WRX bug eye.

As I said, neither car thrill me and I have no allegiance. Just stating what I know to be true.

This thread rules, it started as a Clio kicking the *** of two Imprezas, with video evidence to back it up and has now decended into internacine warfare between scoobynet users.
Let the handbag fight continue.

20 pages, how funny!!!

wonder how a clio cup would fair against a 'real' impreza such as my light weight STi 2 with 280bhp+

any clio owners in essex are welcome to try....

Still quicker than those ****e bug eyes.

I wouldn't want a Clio again (just a teen thing for me) or a bug eye (cos they're horrid and slow). I would have one the later scoobs though - I quite like them.

My only points is that a 172 is quicker than a bug eye WRX. F.A.C.T.
