I think you blokes should count your blessings instead of whining about your good luck. What more do you want for goodness sake! Start thinking about what it is like to be a roadsweeper for a pittance!

There is an answer of course, but would you risk walking out of your boring job? I do agree that job satisfaction is a lot more important than people think. I can understand that you can can get bored doing something that no longer interests you. I was lucky with the occupation I picked but those chances are a bit rarer now.

I dont mind my job, but I have nothing to look forward to and I dont get the training that is required tbh. I have actually de skilled in my current job because it just doesnt demand that much. Also I have no incentive to try, because I cant move up so to speak so whats the point ?

Also puff, what the hell do you need a 100 MBit connection for ??? All that **** no doubt. Hate to meet the cost of it though, unless its on MAN dark fibre or summit.

StueyB: I have exactly the same problem... I was made redundant from a programming job where I did Unix administration stuff as well about 2 years ago and then found a unix admin only role

I have been doing unix for 9-10 years now (although not professionally for more than 5). What I've found is that in the current position I'm in now, I am not allowed to change anything (because no-one is prepared to pay for me to replace 10 (I kid you not) year old *vital* production servers out in the european offices). I'm also not allowed to change anything else, as someone gives me a beating if I do.

All the technology is really old, and in the past 2 years I'm sure I've actually forgotten more than I have learnt (but my CV looks better, no doubt).

The money is OK, but the job itself sucks... I'm looking for a different job at the moment

In a way I can agree that I'm lucky to have a lazy job where I do nothing, but long term I think it's career suicide

So what answer did you figure to fix it Henrik, because the only way out I can see is to quit this stinking hole.
